Once again Fallon has found herself at the start of a new school year. West Valley High School was back again, and Fallon was hating every second of it. She had always thought of herself as an optimistic person, but there was something about the first day of school that made her mood terrible.
Just like history repeating, Fallon was staring into a buzzing and intimidating school lunchroom. She walked swiftly to the table where her friends sat to avoid, as Demetri called her, the devil on earth. Allison Miller. A girl that had tormented Fallon ever since the day she had taken her position on the volleyball team. Allison was a sophomore, and she was furious when she learned she would be benched in order to make room for Fallon, who was only a freshman at the time. Ever since, she had made it her mission to make sure Fallon knew she was lesser than her in every way.
"Well the first half of my day was a bust." She sighed as she sat between Luna and Eli. "Two classes with Allison Miller. Hooray."
Luna frowned. "I'm sorry Fal."
"I think she's jealous of Fallon." Demetri interrupted.
Fallon rolled her eyes as the look over to him, "There's not much to be jealous about."
"I think there is." Eli mumbled.
"There totally is." Luna added. "For example, you are always on the court while she is on the bench. A sophomore playing over a junior, that's embarrassing for her. That's like, me getting the lead over a senior." It should be noted that Luna is a giant theater nerd.
"Is it cool if I sit here?" A voice asked, cutting off their conversation.
The group looked up to see a kid they didn't recognize. "Sorry." Demetri spoke up. "The table is really buzzing right now, we can put you on the wait list, but it probably won't be open until next semester."
The boys face dropped. "Oh, okay."
Fallon laughed as he was turning to walk away. "He's joking. You can sit." She smiled.
The boys eyes brightened at the girls offer as he took a seat next to Luna. "Miguel." He said, introducing himself.
"Demetri. This is Eli, he's a man of few words." He said, gesturing to the nervous boy. "And these two are Luna and Fallon. They are women of many words."
The girls rolled their eyes at his remark.
Fallon noticed Eli's hand go up to his face, and she reached up to move it away. This was something that she often did. She tried her hardest to prevent Eli from feeling insecure, as she felt the scar on his lip wasn't something he should be embarrassed about. She thought it was cool, made him look tough. So, over the past two years, she had made it a habit to remove his hand from his face, intertwining it with her own instead.
