"When I was young I was afraid of the dark, When I got older,I learned that darkness is a place, and it is full of monsters. I live in East Ravka with my twin, but we've never been welcomed here because we looked like our mother and she looked like the enemy. "
"Y/N how can you do that in here?" Alexei asked Y/N
"Bumps help with texture." Y/N replied.
"The fold looks different on mine, I need to get a better view from your country" One of the Cartographers said.
"They grew up here. Come on!" Another replied as Y/N gave him a glare.
"The Shu Han didn't want them either" Another cartographer said.
"Cartographers,listen up. We are almost there. Pack your stuff and be ready to leave and if you lose anything, you will not be getting a replacement. " The head Cartographer said.
"But they aren't the monsters, they're just boys."
As we were packing up our things we heard growling, we stopped packing and looked around in fear.
" I learned about my true enemy when I was a child."
{Flashback to the orphanage}
Y/N and I where in Ana Kuya's office
"Is it real?" I asked
"Of course it is.The fold ate your parents. It's the reason for many of the orphans here. People try to cross. Taunting the saints" She replied
" Then why cross it? Why not go around?" Y/N asked
"Read the map. The north want our Grisha dead and the south guards its mountains. We have nowhere else to go." Ana replied to Y/N
"Now work on your shading, children. Keep a pencil in your hand or else someone will put a rifle in it instead." Ana told us.
"I spent years thinking we'd find a way out. Around the fold, to go somewhere, where no one cares where we were from."
{End of flashback}
{Back at the camp}
"But now I am old enough to now the only way out is through."
"We are never going to see it go away. This abomination is here forever." Alexei said
"You don't go to church? Two saints who can summon the sun will destroy it." Rasia told Alexei
"I would like to see one person who isn't afraid of that." One of the male cartographers said
" I bet I know someone. Mal he isn't afraid of anything." Rasia said I chuckled in reply.
"You'd be surprised." I responded with a sigh.
{Flashback to the orphanage}
Y/N and I where lying on the carpet inside practicing our drawing when Mal came up to us.
"Alina, Y/N." Mal called us softly.
"Mal?" Y/N said softly
"Look what I found." Mal said as he showed us a small bunny
"Where?" I asked
"Little guys lost. But I found some chewed plants in the east. I bet his warren's there." Mal said
" Why run from me, half-breed?" Another one of the orphans come run in
