A/n: this just dawned on me and now I have to write it. It's like a chapter from a potential story like of thing.

Everyone thought you were hallucinating. But you knew you weren't.

Those creatures you could see from time to time watching humans, they were real. No one else could seem to see them. But you always could ever since you were born you could. You didn't know how, or why but you could.

They looked different from one another, but you could tell they were the same creatures. Some were skeletal looking, some were strange blob creatures and some looked like distorted humans, but they all had something in common and that was they all watched humans.

You'd only ever seen a few in your life, but you knew for sure they weren't made up, they were real and you absolutely weren't hallucinating.

So when Light Yagami walked into the hotel the taskforce were working at and you locked eyes with one of the creatures you immediately knew something was up. But no one would believe you, so you kept your mouth shut.

It was tall, looked kinda punk, had sharp teeth, spiked hair and clothes seemingly sewed onto his skin. He knew you could see him, but didn't say anything, you were locked in kind of a staring contest.

"(Y/n)"

You snapped out of it, turning to see L beside you.

"Yeah?" You asked.

"What do you see?"

You were silent for a moment, L had probably read about your history of 'hallucinations' when he did a background check on you.

"Nothing" you lied.

"Liar. You see something, what is it?"

"You're not going to tell me I'm crazy and need meds like everyone else?"

The creature seemingly listened in in your conversation with L you had in the corner as the taskforce worked.

"No. Because in a case like this... you probably aren't hallucinating" L replied.

He believed you? L actually believed you?

"You actually believe me?" You asked.

"Don't tell anyone. But I knew someone similar to you once. He claimed he could see names above peoples heads, at first I thought he was hallucinating until he told me my real name letter for letter. He was able to prove his claim, and you seem to be in a similar position" L explained.

Before you could say anything, the creature laughed. He seemed entertained. You looked up at him, L unable to see him looked in the same direction only to be met with the ceiling.

"You find this funny creature?" You asked.

"This just got interesting... that's all" he spoke.

He had a raspy voice, it matched his appearance.

"What did it say?" L asked.

"He said this just got interesting..."

L looked up at where the creature would be, but still couldn't see anything.

"Didn't think L's girl would be able to see me"

"I- wait I'm not- well... not yet" you stammered.

"What?" L asked.

"Uh... nothing. He just said he didn't think I'd be able to see him. Better question, what are you doing here creature?"

He laughed again, leaning down to your level.

"I'm a shinigami... I think you know why I'm here" he said.
