Four months later
It was Winnie's birthday weekend when he stopped in College Station to pick up Ally and Kennedy for the weekend. They headed to Austin where his grandmother was hosting a birthday dinner for her.
"How was practice?" She said as they headed south.
"Tiring..how was class?" He said
"Oh I had clinicals today. That's always fun." She said
They pulled into his mom's place around 10. Mitchell Bucky's stepdad and Max came out to help him bring in the stuff while Ally packed Kennedy who was now 1 year old. Winnie helped her set up the pack n play in Bucky's room. She laid a sleeping Kennedy down while they visited with the family a bit before heading into bed.
The next afternoon they all went over to Serena and Jeffrey Peters house. When they walked in Serena came over to them.
"Oh my goodness James Buchanan how did you snag this beautiful thing..and make me such a beautiful great grand baby." Serena said
"I don't know grandma. I'm just lucky..Allyson this is my grandmother Serena and that's her husband Jeffrey my grandpa." He said
"Nice to meet you both." Allyson said
"Lovely to finally meet the woman to knock some sense into my grandson. And my great grand baby." Jeffrey said
Bucky let them visit with Kennedy while he took her into the living room. "Of course you already know Beckett and Laney as well as Max and Lindsey. And this is here is my sister Allie or Allianna and her husband Tucker Jacobson." He said
"Ah, now it makes sense." Allyson said
"What makes sense?" Bucky said
"Why you don't ever call me Ally hardly. Nice to meet you Allie and Tucker." She said
"Nice to meet you Ally." Allianna said
They all enjoyed the dinner and had a great time being a family.
Just two weeks later they were in Alabama visiting her family. They were all out in the back where her dad was grilling out steaks and chicken.
"Hello my Ally bug and K-Bug. And James it's good to finally meet you in person." Ethan said
"Nice to finally meet you Ethan." Bucky said
Ally took him down by the fire pit where everyone was.
"This is my Erin, my sister Taylor and her husband Joey, My brothers Memphis and Knox my sisters in laws Megan and Camilla. And my grandparents Helena and Charles..Donovan and Janice." She said
"Nice to meet you all finally. She's told me so much about you all." He said
"We are happy to finally meet you." Erin said as she took Kennedy.
"But please don't hurt my sister again." Memphis said
"I'm not going to." Bucky said
They all enjoyed the dinner told embarrassing stories about Allyson. Being with her family was different for Bucky they were all close and got along. After spending two days in Fairhope Ally drove them to Gulf shores.
It was an hour drive from her hometown and on their last night there with Kennedy playing in between Ally's legs as she sat in between his on their towel.
"So this is where you spent most of your summers?" He said
"Yup. What about you? Where did you take family vacations?" She said
"Oh sweetheart, dad didn't believe in those. We never did that..it was always spring and summer was meant for baseball." He said
"Oh.." she said
He looked at Kennedy. "But we will do that Allyson. I want our kids to have the life you had not what I had growing up." He said as he had tears welled.
She kissed him. "I love you". She whispered
"I love you too." He whispered
