*Maxon's POV*

I woke up the next morning and looked over at America who had rolled over in the middle of the night. I got up and walked around to kiss her cheek before going into my room to get ready for my meeting.

----

"Sir, are you okay?" Stavros snapped me out of my daze and brought me back down to reality

"Yes. I'm sorry. I'm just worried about America."

"But we are in the middle of a meeting." One advisor said

"That means nothing to me."

"Prince Maxon,"

"I apologize but I will not sit here and let my fiancé's health be dismissed."

"This is more important-"

"No actually, it is not."

"Are you even aware of what we are speaking of? There have been 12 more attacks on lower castes."

"Which castes?"

"Five and lower. Mainly fives."

"We believe it's because you made a decision and finished the selection and now there is a promise of the continuation of the royal family."

"Is America's family okay?"

"There hasn't been any mention of the Singer family."

"Have you set guards at their house?" I asked impatiently

"No. We weren't aware-"

"When there are attacks, the Singer family should be your first priority. America would never forgive me if I let anything happen to her family."

"Well what should we do about the attacks." Another advisor asked

"Track down where specifically they are and from that find the point that they might be coming from. After that report back to me. Is that all? Because if so, I need to go and check up on America."

"Yes. That is all." An advisor sighed

'Thank you." I said and raced up to America's room

When I got up to her room she was still asleep. She doesn't normally sleep this late.

"America, America, America." She wouldn't wake up

"Maxon. Let her sleep." I turned and saw my mother in the doorway

"She's not waking up."

"I think you should just leave her be. But would you like me to go get Dr. Ashlar?"

"Please."

"Okay." She nodded and left. I looked down at America and brushed the hair away from her face. I reached for her hand and laced our fingers together. I rubbed the back of her hand with my thumb not breaking my gaze from her face hoping her eyes would begin to flutter open...but they didn't.

"Prince Maxon." I turned to see Dr Ashlar walk into the room

"She's not waking up." I told him

"Maybe we should move her down to the hospital wing so I can keep a better watch on her."

"Yeah...okay." I said and stood up. I gently slipped my arms under her and lifted her up. I kissed her forehead and followed Dr Ashlar down to the hospital wing

"You can put her down here." He said pointing to a bed and I laid America down

"Can I stay here?" I asked, not taking my eyes off of America's still body. The only sign of life was her chest slightly rising and falling as she breathed
