Chapter 4

Maxon and I walked in and May was the first to spot us. She started to clap. That caught the attention of other people around her, they clapped too. Soon the whole room was clapping and chanting our names. I looked over to Maxon and smiled.

"Go ahead." He said and I ran over to May

"America! You did it! I told you that you would marry the prince." May bragged

"Yeah. I'm gonna marry the prince. It's amazing, isnt it?" I gushed. I gently hugged her and hoped she wouldn't hold on too tight

"Ames?" I turned around to see Gerad

"Hey!" I bent down to his level and hugged him

"I missed you."

"I missed you too, buddy." I smiled, "Guess what! When Maxon and I get married, you don't have to learn art or music any more. You'Il be able to do whatever you would like." His eyes lit up

"You're the best big sister ever" He yelled then threw himself at me in a hug

"I'll be back. There are more people I have to talk to." I told him then walked away. I found Kriss sitting alone at a table in the back corner. I sat next to her,

"Leave, America " She said not looking at me.

"Kriss-"

"I said leave." She repeated

I didn't move.

"Kriss, I just wanted to say-"

"America, I don't need your pity. If anything, thats the last thing I need. What I need right now is to get out of this stupid palace." She said crossing her arms.

Without another word, I gave up trying and left. I went back to try to find Maxon, but Celeste found me first,

She grabbed my hands, "I'm so proud of you, I knew you could do it"

"I like this new version of Celeste. I hope we can stay in touch, okay?" I asked

"Of course! Just promise me one thing- well two things. One, don't go too easy on the country. Be a powerful queen, okay? We all know you can do it. I mean you tried to completely get rid of castes in one night. You should be able to change so much in the many years of your rule. And two, invite me to everything!" She said

"Of course. And don't worry, I have plans for this country I think you'll approve of." I said

"Good. Oh, by the way, Maxon is over there." She said pointing,

"Thanks. We will talk soon." I said before going over to Maxon

As I got closer, I realized that he was talkng to Gerad. They looked so happy. Gerad never really had a big brother because Kota left us and Maxon always wanted younger siblings.

"Hey, what's going on over here?" I asked. Maxon looked up and smiled.

"Gerad and I are planning a one-on-one Soccer game. He tells me that he's pretty good." He told me

"He is pretty good!" I assured him

"Gerad, we'll talk again later. Your sister and I have some stuff to take care of" Maxon said bending down to give him a high five. Then he joined me to go talk to everyone else.

A bit later the queen came in and dismissed everyone.

A bunch of people were staying at the palace. All of the Elite and a handful of other girls were spending one last night in their old rooms. My family was staying and Amberly's sister and her Kids were Staying as well.

Maxon and I said good night to everyone then headed out to the gardens
