In response to 12gal12's poem "Flower"

Oh, flower full of beauty

So full of careful stability

Why don't you worry about

Being knocked down?

Your petals, silky smooth

Your stem, so thin to break

So tempting to pluck

Your petals off

So tempting to pick

You out of the ground

Clumsy feet walk your way

And miss you by a hair

Why do you not live in fear?

Why are you not scared?

Is the thrill of life

Just a dull feeling now?

Are clumsy feet

Just a passé?

Are those lingering hands

Around your neck

Only another work of day?

You will die, you know

Die lying on the ground

Will it be slow

By nature's time?

Will it be fast

From a child's good mind

Plucking you and running

To their mother?

Will she tend to you with water

Though she knows the color

Won't stay?

Or will she put it in her hair

And kiss her child on the head?

I suppose being a flower

Is full of sacrifice

With beauty and temptation

With jealousy and constant danger

With obstacles and water

And those who want you to live longer...

I realize now

That I say all this

I've discovered a strange way

That these things make

Flowers and Humans

Very much the same
