Pop:

In general, I feel out of love with pop more than I ever have this year. Here are some of the artists I still listen to regardless of that.

Alaina Castillo — listen to pocket locket. Alaina just got featured on Vevo, and the quality she's got as a cover artist off YouTube is incredible. She's just a super solid pop performer.

Daya — she's not exactly new to the industry, but her new music is bomb. I don't know how many of you remember Don't Let Me Down by the Chainsmokers or Hide Away or Sit Still Look Pretty, but Daya's come back with a new sound that leans a bit more indie, and it's really good. Bad Girl is one of my current favorites songs. Highly recommend.

Willie Spence — he's up and coming off of The Voice and YouTube, and has the most gorgeous voice. Willie's currently leaning towards ballads and pop, almost edging on R&B. He's just got that type of voice.

Hey Violet — if you don't know HV by now (which you probably don't) I'm not sure what you're doing with your life. Their debut album was so unbelievably good it's ridiculous. It's called From the Outside, with the best songs being Guys My Age, O.D.D., and All We Ever Wanted. The latter is my new favorite pop track at the moment. HV leans more pop recently, but their debut album leaned pop-alt/everything.

Dove Cameron — yes, the disney star. She's breaking into the music industry, and she's doing a good job. LazyBaby, We Belong, and So Good are some of her best songs.

JEN Z — she's very solidly pop. Jennifer is breaking in from the YouTube scene, but not from being a cover artist. Talking Loud is a good pop song that's been in my playlist all year.

Bea Miller — I think Bea only became popular this year, but I've liked her since Aurora, her debut album. In general, she's so solidly pop (maybe leaning slightly indie). Bea has been one of my favorite pop artists for years now. My favorite songs from her include warmer, outside, never wanna die, and self-crucify. feel something is the song that blew up on TikTok this year.

Chase Atlantic — they're not small, but not very mainstream either, so I thought I'd throw them in here. Very edgy pop. You're either gonna love or hate Chase Atlantic. It's a lot of sex, drugs, numbness, but if that through pop might be your thing, I would try them out. Recommended songs include Slide, BEAUTY IN DEATH, Church, and Right Here.

Sasha Sloan — sadder, beautiful songs. Recommended songs include Older, Thoughts, and Until It Happens to You.
