📍 Camelot
⏳ February, 504 AD
Dallas and I were leisurely strolling through the woods as we made our way back to the castle after a fun uphill workout aimed at strengthening his hind-quarters; when I spotted Arthur in the distance, riding Bronze towards me at a fast-paced trot. I tilted my head, surprised to see him out on his own.
"Hey," I greeted when he reached me. A buzzing sensation settled in my stomach and I glared down at it for a second.
"I knew I would find you here," he stated with a small grin that made my heart skip a beat.
"Is there a game of hide n' seek I wasn't aware of?" I questioned playfully.
"What?" he frowned. I huffed and waved him off. He shook his head and continued, "My father asked me to find you. He says that he needs to talk to you about something important."
Fear struck at my chest as my eyes widened. Did he somehow find out that I'm from the future?!
"I assure you, there is nothing to be worried about," Athtur told me gently.
"Okay, cool," I nodded in understanding and let out a sigh as I tangled my fingers in my horse's mane. Then a smirk formed on my lips and I looked at the Prince again as I exclaimed, "I'll race ya' back!" And I asked Dallas to take off galloping, easily leaving Arthur and Bronze in the dust.
I hurried to untack my Thoroughbred and return him to his paddock, and then I made my way towards the throne room – where a guard had told me I would find Uther. Another guard let me inside after announcing my presence.
"Hi," I greeted the King with a shy grin.
"Astraea," he gave me an acknowledging nod. "Did Arthur tell you why I summoned you?"
"He only said that you wanted to talk about somethin'."
He nodded, "Yes. Recently, I have been pondering the idea of taking you in as another ward."
My jaw dropped and my eyes widened, "What?!"
A faint amused glint formed in his eyes at my reaction, then he continued, "You have proven to be a great ally to Camelot. You exposed a sorcerer, you helped to sustain life when our water was contaminated, you turned that rambunctious horse around, and, only last week you saved my son's life."
I felt myself blush and I looked down as his greyish blue eyes pierced my figure, "Arthur told you about that, aye?"
"Morgana forced it out of him, and then she told me," the man responded, the ghost of a grin forming on his lips.
I shrank further into myself as I mumbled, "That was nothing, really. Just helpin' out."
"You should consider it, Astraea. I do not make this offer lightly," he told me earnestly.
