Chapter 11

With a few blinks I was awake, thanks to my phone. Notification sounds wouldn't stop, but I didn't want to even move my arms out of bed. I glanced at the clock , 9 a.m. Shit, today the BSAA is placing the tent and I had to be there at 7:30 a.m, my boss is going to kill me. I tried to get up but I felt a weight on my chest. I tried to gently move her , trying my best to not wake her up.

"mmh...what" Miranda said placing her arm around my waist again.

"Miranda i have to wake up, my boss is waiting for me"

"No" she said closing her eyes again. She knew she was stronger than me and always used that for her own convenience. I laughed at her cracked voice and laid my head back to the pillow.

"Miranda, please?"

"Fine" she said pouting her lips , and she went back to sleep.

As i made my way to the tent my thoughts invaded me again, strangely enough, it wasn't Miranda who was haunting my thoughts, instead it was the project . I had a feeling that I shouldn't continue with this, but I was determined. If I succeed , Rose will be with her family again, and Miranda with her beloved daughter. I've always been like this, I put others first, it's kinda how I am, sometimes it hurts because you expect the same from others but you just end disappointed.

The sky was overcast, keeping the air cool, my gps beeped to signal I've arrived. I gave it a smug smile and parked next to Chris range rover.

"Chris!" You said running towards him.

"You're so late Y/n" he laughed while pulling you into a hug.

The morning went by so slowly, we were warned about the events that were taking place in the village, how to defeat the lycans and blah blah blah...nothing new to me. Before searching every single corner of the village, they decided to create some kind of plan, I wasn't paying too much attention. The only thing in my mind was the project, I need to get to work, quickly.

Two weeks have passed since then and , my project is taking shape, finally. I still need to tell Miranda about it. But things between us were, complicated. Miranda's angry issues were intensifying, because apparently someone stole Rose's flasks. I would always be there for her but trust me, whenever she has this problem the best is to step aside until she gets through it.

I managed to get Eva's consciousness from the megamycete , now I need a woman. Yesterday I realized that, in order to succeed I needed something that once belonged to Eva, like a strand of hair. Also her own DNA and Miranda's DNA. Otherwise it will become a failed experiment, just like Eveline or E-001.

As a result of the merging of an anomalous bacteria into her genome during the embryonic stage, she gained the ability to control the minds of people who came in contact with her. Eveline was unique in being the first E-Type bioweapon, alongside her unhealthy obsession with creating a family to suit her own needs. They lied to Miranda, they weren't trying to bring Eva back, instead their only objective was using the mold she gave to them to create a bioweapon.
Eveline was artificially aged to appear as a ten-year-old child to suit her purpose for infiltration. Her birth proved to be controversial in the bio-weapons and weaponry market in general as her projected ability to end battles through mind control rendered the economically-devastating traditional bio-weapons as well as conventional weapons such as firearms, chemical weapons or even nuclear weapons obsolete. That organization is evil, but Miranda didn't hesitate when they promised to bring Eva back.

"I will end your grief Miranda, you will reunite with your little Eva again, I promise you, even if it costs everything to me" I thought out loud.

I went upstairs and, while searching for my documents with information about genetics, I found the letter I had stolen last week from Miranda's nightstand, I only did it because it was folded and my name was in it. I sat on my bed and started to read it:

Y/n:

I'll keep writing these until we reunite again.
I've been missing you so much, this wound becomes bigger and bigger everyday. Yesterday I had a dream that we were together again, you were in my room, asleep.

So today I ran upstairs hoping to find you sleeping in my bed, but it was empty. Nothing feels the same without you I'm angry all the time, you are the only one who softened me once.

Luckily, we'll be together again someday.I don't know when, I don't care if it takes one hundred years, take your time, I know sooner or later you'll find me. You're smart.

I miss you, damn it I miss you so much...

Sincerely,
Miranda.

My breath catches, and I struggle to keep my tears in my eyes. I felt asleep in my bed , holding the letter in my arms, and still crying, I love her so much.

When I opened my eyes I wasn't alone anymore, she was standing there at the doorframe. Like nothing happened, after that day... last week... she was avoiding me and I was too concentrated in my project to notice. Besides I wanted to give her the space she deserved.

Ventilation in my room was poor, and I was immediately hit by a wave of her intoxicating perfume. She was dressed in Mother Miranda clothes, the look in her eyes indecipherable, as always.

All I want right now is to run into her arms, but I also want to know why she is here.
