"HAVE YOU MISSED this room?" Nessa asked sheepishly, sitting down at the end of his childhood bed and slowly laying on her back over the mattress.

Dave's room still looked pretty much the same as it did six years before, maybe just a little more tidy, probably because he hadn't spent enough time at home to make significant changes to it over the years.

Dave imitated her movements, but more harshly, crossing his arms against his chest in a cross shape and letting his body free fall over the bed, both of them laughing when the structure protested in return.

"If I missed home? Yeah, a lot," he replied, tucking one hand under his head and staring at the ceiling, where over the years humidity stains had collected from the damage on the insulation of the house. He made a mental note to try and repair it later.

Dave shrugged. "This room in particular? Not really, I guess"

Nessa laid on her side so that she could look at him, making a pillow with her bent arm under her cheek. "Not even when you slept in a van like a sardine in a can with drops of disgusting ice falling on your face?" she asked with a grin.

"I was always too tired – and drunk – to care, honestly," Dave shrugged with a small laugh, taking a few instances to recall his days in Europe with Scream, with all of them crammed up inside a van with equipment surrounding them. He had done it with Nirvana for some time too, but lately, they had been lucky enough to stay at hotels. "Besides, it was worth it"

"What about the hookups?"

Dave's eyes shot to Nessa as soon as her words processed in his head, trying to figure out what he was dealing with. However, the only thing he found on her face was a playful smirk and a pair of wiggly brows. Nessa wasn't challenging or testing him with her question, at least not with malice or ill intentions.

She just wanted to see whether he would be honest about it or not. And if it was a test, Dave passed it with flying colors, because he matched her energy and laid on his side, facing her with a dorky look on his face.

"That's what utility closets and backseats are for, duh," he said with a funny voice and a dramatic roll of eyes, making her giggle and hit his stomach with her hand.

However, Dave was quicker, swiftly grabbing her wrists before she could deliver a second blow. Holding her hands in place with one of his, Dave took advantage and tickled her sides, while Nessa squirmed beneath him, trying to get away.

Their fit of laughter was interrupted when Ginny softly knocked on Dave's bedroom door, an amused smile dangling on her face. Next to her stood Jimmy Swanson, with his lips molded into a similar grin.

Nessa wasn't surprised to see him, considering he had been dating her best friend forsome time now and they saw each other fairly often.

Both of them sat up quickly on the bed, Dave pushing his hair out of his face and tucking it behind his ears, and Nessa straightening upthe wrinkles on her clothes, still flustered from all the laughing.

"Hey, man," Dave greeted with a sheepish look on his face, watching as his mother giggled softly and shook her head, disappearing down the hallway. "I wasn't expecting you to come over"
