13 - Soul

Mio's POV

"Mio, are you done fixing your things?" Haru asks as he enters my room. I was in the middle of packing my things since we were going out for a trip to the beach, since Summer Vacation just started last week.

"Yeah." I nod as I zip my bag up. We were going to Mugi's villa again, so I planned on bringing my bass with me so that I could practice later.

"Let's go." Haru says as he carries my bass for me and heads out to his car. I sat in the front seat while my bass and our bags were behind us.

"Hello~!" Kisumi grins as he ran towards us, with his duffel bag hanging from his shoulder. I could hear Haru letting out a small groan as Kisumi sits in the back seat.

"Out of all the places." Haru mutters when Kisumi gave me a box of cupcakes.

"Here's some food for the trip~" Kisumi says while the others climb in the compartment, since they always do that when they see a pick up.

"Arigato." I smile as I opened the box filled with red velvet cupcakes with small animal designs on top. I bit into one and it was very delicious and sweet so I got one with the dolphin design on it for Haru to eat.

"Haru say ahhh." Haru looks at me with a raised eyebrow.

"No."

"Oh come on~ Ja, I'll eat it myself Mio-" Kisumi didn't even finish his sentence when Haru ate the whole cupcake, wiping his face from the frosting as I took out a water bottle for him. Kisumi chuckles as he takes out his USB. "Can we listen to music?"

"Yeah sure." I say as I plugged his USB into Haru's sound system. The others outside were busy laughing and screaming at each other, especially Rei. The first few chords of She Looks so Perfect started playing, and Kisumi and I started to hum to the music.

"SHE LOOKS SO PERFECT STANDING THERE IN MY AMERICAN APPAREL UNDERWEAR~!" Nagisa screams as he heard the music that was playing inside the car. I giggle at Nagisa who was trying to keep his balance when Haru drove in a rocky road while singing along to the music with Yui and Ritsu.

I look at Haru who was tapping his fingers on the wheel as we passed by a highway.

"REI-CHAN DON'T THROW UP~!" I heard Nagisa cry as Rei threw up in a empty ice box from the looks of it.

"Ew! Gross! Rei you have to get me a new one!" Ritsu exclaims.

"I'll just clean it out!" Rei exclaims before hurling again. I could hear sounds of disgust from the others.

"Haru stop the car!" Rin calls out and Haru stepped on the brakes. I got out of the car along with Kisumi and Haru to see Rei throwing up at the side of the road, with Mugi and Yui patting his back.

"Man. Rei, do you need something?" Rin sighs as he placed a hand on Rei's shoulder as he stopped throwing up.

"Water." Rei coughed. Nagisa rummages through his pink and yellow bag to find a water bottle and gave it to Rei.

"Arigato." Makoto looks around to check if there was any sign of the villa being near by.

"Minna, it seems we could reach the villa just by walking for some minutes." He says, pointing out to the south.

"Nagisa, Yui. You two should accompany Rei."

"Haiii." Yui and Nagisa chorused as they both clung onto the carsick Rei. Rei sighs.

"Can someone else be with me as well?" He says, staring at me and Haru.

"Rin, take my car." Haru says as he throws his keys at Rin.

"Sure. C'mon Ritsu." Rin says as he holds Ritsu's hand and starts dragging her towards the car.

"Ja, I'll also go with you guys." Kisumi smiles as he shoves his hands into his pockets, his purple eyes gleaming as the sun shone on his face. He walks towards Rei who was walking shakily and he places Rei's arm on his shoulder for support.

"Arigato Shigino-san." Rei says as the two other bunnies (Yui and Nagisa) Both follow them as they started walking. Mugi and Makoto were already ahead, with Makoto holding the umbrella for Mugi while they were happily chatting.

"We should also start walking Haru." I say to Haru who was busy trying to untangle his earphones.

"Ah. Sure." He says as he holds my hand.

"Why do you keep on doing that?" I ask him, cheeks turning red. He looks at me with the usual stoic face he has.

"You don't want me to?" He says, slowly pulling away his hand.

No don't let go.

I stopped him, clamping my hand with his hand. He looks surprised for a moment. Oh shoot.

"Come on. You're spacing out. We'll get left behind if you continue staring at me like that." Haru says in his monotone voice as he drags me along to quicken our pace. It's pretty quiet here I must say, but since Mugi's family owns this place I guess it's just one of the many places they own all over the country.

"Rei-chaaan~! Can I eat some of your butterfly cookies?" Nagisa asks as he took out Rei's lunchbox. Rei nods as Nagisa and Yui rummages through his lunch bag, scavenging for sweets. They simultaneously ate a cookie, and went silent for a moment.

"... BITTER!"

"Of course they are bitter. They have crushed ascorbic acid in it." Rei says as Yui and Nagisa take turns as they drank water.

"Rei-chan you baka!"

By the time we arrived at the Villa, it was already late afternoon. We all sighed as we placed down our bags and sat on the floor and some, on the white couches.

"Maaan. I'm hungry." Ritsu groans.

"It's hot." Rin mutters as he stands up and turns the A/C on. I felt a little tired, and I looked at Haru who started to listen to his music. I scan the room until I saw the door marked 'STUDIO'

"Mugi, can I practice my bass?" I ask Mugi who was busy serving everyone tea and biscuits. She gave me a smile before nodding. I proceeded to the music studio where we used to practice and goof off afterwards. Memories filled my mind as I plugged in my bass, switching the amp on as I adjusted it before opening my phone; looking at the chords of 'Guren no Yumiya' before also opening the music player and playing the song.

Seid ihr das essen? Nein wir sind die jaeger!

I started playing the first few chords, my fingers trembling as I concentrated on the music.

Half way through the music, I heard a knock on the door. The door swung open and it revealed Kisumi, who was holding two drinks in his hands.

"Sorry for disturbing your session." Kisumi says as he shows a sheepish smile. I shake my head as I placed my bass down and smile at the cotton candy haired boy who sat beside me on the soft carpet.

"Thanks." I say, opening the soda can and drinking the sweet liquid, quenching my thirst. Kisumi smiles as he examines my bass.

"Ehh. You play the bass?" I nod.

"I like playing it." I smile as I slowly pluck the bass strings, a low sound fills the room. "I don't like playing the guitar, since it's the heart of the band. The bass, it's..." I trailed off, looking into Kisumi's purple eyes. "... It's like... The soul. That's why I like it." I smiled as the sun sets down, twilight at hand. Kisumi stares into my eyes, his eyes twinkling.

"Oh. I see-" we both look at the door, seeing Haru who was wide eyed as I stood up along with Kisumi.
