Jia Davis

"WHAT THE CRAP!"

He yelled after taking a sip from the coffee and putting the cup back with a thud on the table.

He started coughing badly, and his breathing got heavy, making me shiver with terror. Oh, god! I didn't put any poison for sure. He looked like he was dying.

"Are you ok, sir?" I asked
He gave me a death glare, he open the drawer of his table and took out an inhaler and dragged from it. Slopping on his chair, he rested his head on the backrest and closed his eyes. Soon his chest was heaving normally. He will survive, I suppose. Better I hide myself somewhere. I was about to turn and leave when,

"STOP"
The command made my body go stiff, and I stopped on my track.

"What was that, WHAT did you put in that coffee?" He asked, almost in a whisper.

"No... nothing, just one tablespoon coffee and wate.."

"ONE SPOON!"
" It's Civet coffee, It just requires a small teaspoon. Do you know how expensive it is, ordered specially from Indonesia."

What absurdly expensive fixation this snobbish rich people have! I wondered, but didn't dare say that aloud.

"Why was coffee on the right side of the table?"

"Huh?" What kind of question is that.

He signed heavily, shaking his head when I didn't reply.

"I am left-handed, so my coffee has to be on left hand side of my MacBook and that to 1 feet away. Did you jot down all instructions from Mrs Hudson?"

"Umm I...I.."

He again shook his head and picked up the landline phone. "Get here" was all he said. I stood there like a scared kid waiting for punishment.

Wow! What a first day! I will be thrown out today itself.

Just then there was a knock at the door and Richard peeped in. He was wearing blue jeans, white vest and denim jacket, looking utterly delicious.

"Hey bro, what is it?" He came in and looked at me. "Good morning Ms Davis" and gave his best smile, brightening the whole grey room.

My knight in shining armor is here to save me. He stood beside me

"Do you think you picked the right candidate" Viktor Anderson asked getting up from his seat and crossing his hands.

Richard's head snapped at me and raised his brows, I looked away, putting my full concentration on the carpet below my feet.

"Yes of course bro, she is the best. Are you all right?" He asked looking at the pump,
Thank you, Richie.

"I doubt that." How rude can he get? I am standing right here, Mr. snobbish. He even entirely ignored My Richie's question.
"Well, then explain her everything again before lunch. One more mistake and we are looking for someone else." He said, leaving no further scope of communication.

"Yes boss", he gave a small salute to him. "Come Ms Davis." He told me to follow him.

We went to his office and asked me to sit on the couch, making himself comfortable right beside me. I am in a confused state right now. One side I am right beside the man of my dreams and other side I had ruined my impression in front of Mr. Snobbish.

"What just happened?" He asked me with concern.

"I think I made his coffee wrong and placed it on the right side of the table…" I said looking down.

"At that too at wrong time" he completed.

I look at him and our eyes meet, keeping us engaged in each other for a few seconds. He looked away instantly and scratched his beard. I, on my part, made my focus on the carpet.

"Ok, let's get to work, I will explain everything to you and hope you will remember." He still had hopes for me.

"I am sorry, you have to do this for me...umm, sorry for wasting your time." I felt guilty, he had to bear me. I mean, he is CEO here, he must be very busy.

"Anything for you" he said looking at me. I gave him a perplexed look. I just hope my cheeks don't turn pink.
