"stella?" his voice questioned her from the doorway of his home.

much had changed in parker's appearance; his brown hair had lightened to a dirty blonde and his skin was tanned. he still appeared scrawny and tall as he had when they were only eight, his head coming up to her neck in the wheelchair.

stella tried to smile. "h-hi, parker."

he looked up to her in spite, backed up his wheelchair, and slammed the door, rattling the house and rattling stella to her bones.
