parker waited and waited for the aftermath of stella telling, but nothing happened until the very end of the school day.
he was in his english class when mrs. smith received a call to send parker down to the principal's office.
he was terrified, riddled with anxiety, and as he rolled in he noticed stella walking out, but not alone.
two police officers guarded her sides and escorted her out of the building into the back of their cruiser.
before she left, though, she made eye contact with him and grimaced, turning away quickly.
parker shook it off, thinking that they were just taking her to get more information, and he continued on into the office.
the principal sat behind her desk, smiling a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"i only need to know one thing, parker," she said.
he nodded, waiting for the blow.
"did you know that stella was carrying that gun on the premises?"
