My Only Sunshine

Chapter 12

Four months later and Johnny was finally able to grasp parenthood just a little bit. They fell into a routine of waking up, Taeyong making them breakfast, Haechan making her lunch,  Johnny rushing around to get her dressed for school while Jaehyun packed up the small amount of school supplies she had.

Then they went to practice, recordings, photoshoots, whatever was scheduled for that day. The company hired someone to pick Dani up after school but in the past few days she threw temper tantrums because Johnny wasn't there to pick her up.

So he had to go down to the school himself, straight from work so he had a ridiculous outfit on. Pants that were too tight for comfort and a shirt that showed too much of his midsection for him to be comfortable at a school.

At least his hair and makeup were still perfect.

"Who is that?" He heard one of the women picking up their kids ask, the women she stood with locked their gaze on Johnny, making him feel incredibly uncomfortable.

"I don't know, I've never seen him before." 

Johnny glanced over at them, giving them a smile. 

"Daddy!" Dani screeched, running up to him. He scooped her up, resting her on his hip.

"What did I tell you about calling me Daddy in places like this?" He scolded.

"Sorry. Uncle Johnny." She wrapped her arms around his neck as her teacher looked over Johnny from head to tie, a wary look in her eyes.

"Wave goodbye to your teacher." Johnny muttered, putting on his most charming smile and waving at her with Dani. She quickly diverted her attention to a group of kids.

"How was school today?" Johnny asked, licking his thumb and wiping at some dirt on her chin.

"Fun. Mrs. Shuna made me do math." Dani grinned And held up an envelope. "They said I'm too smart for preschool." 

"Really?" Johnny felt a sense of pride wash over him as he took the envelope.

"Excuse me, I don't think I've seen you before," a woman's voice came from behind him. He turned around to see one of the women from before in front of him "Is your daughter new here?" She asked

"Niece." Johnny corrected

"Oh she said Daddy so I thought—"

"She's just confused about her living situation. She just moved here." Johnny laughed 

"Ah yeah that can be a bit confusing for them. Excuse me for asking but… did you just come from the gym?" She asked, eyes falling on Johnny's abs.

"Oh, no. A photoshoot. I'm an idol, I just didn't have time to change."

"The teachers here are pretty strict about these kinds of things, you might want to keep an extra shirt in your car." She laughed

"Johnny, we have to get back before—" Jaehyun started, poking his head out of the car. He saw the woman speaking to him and stopped mid sentence.

"Uncle Jayjay!" Dani reached for him. He sighed, getting out of the vehicle and finding a spot between Johnny and the woman, letting Dani squirm into his arms so she could hug him. 

If the women weren't mesmerized by Johnny then Jaehyun did the job. His suit coat had nothing beneath it, and his hair was styled the way that made Johnny's knees go weak.

"We gotta go, the interview starts in a half hour." Jaehyun stated, opening the door and putting Dani in her car seat. 

"Nice meeting you." Johnny leaned into the vehicle, double checking the straps to make sure they were tightened before jumping into the driver's seat. He gave the envelope to Jaehyun and started for the set.
