After hours of hostel-hunting, we finally found a good place. It was affordable, homely, and not far from the institution. My Mom liked the place, its name itself had ~Homestay in it and I could finally see the satisfaction on her face. So I nodded as soon as she looked at my face for my approval.
Ever since my father passed away my Mom's insecurities were doubled. Convincing her to let me come here itself was a herculean task. Of course, it included weeks of pestering and skipping meals.
Finally, she approved but only after her cross-checks. The main reason she approved was my uncle, he lived in that city so he assured my safety. Well, I couldn't stay at his place, my cousins would be there and I won't be able to focus on my studies. Moreover I preferred to be around unknown people so that I could save time on loose talks and be inside my shell, fully focused.
It was around noon and my Mom couldn't stay any longer since she had a long way back. It's almost a 7-hour journey by train. So I bid her off with a happy face. Yeah... As usual, she didn't forget to collect everyone's phone number including the house owner's. All I could do was sigh!
~
The first week went by smoothly. The food was sumptuous, different varieties each day. There were just 7 of us in total. We all dined together. The place was spacious enough for us and there was just one girl in my room other than me.
So primarily the atmosphere was quiet and serene ~perfect for studying.
Well, it didn't take me long to realize that it was a period of tranquility before the chaos.
