"Ellie?!" Meredith yelled as she entered the house

"M-ommy" The little girl was groaning on the couch in Alex' arms

"Baby" Meredith gasped as she saw Ellis laying overstretched, clearly in pain. She took Ellis into her arms and started massaging her limbs

"I'll go grab her meds. She's good for a new round" Alex said and stood up

"Daddy loved you so much baby but he couldn't come home today but he'll be here tomorrow eve" Meredith whispered "Ellie, calm down sweetie" Meredith said as she saw Ellis was zoning out, clearly the start of one of her seizures

"Need a hand?" Alex asked as the seizure started

"No" Meredith's voice cracked "We're used to it" She whispered

After a bit, the scare was gone and Ellis was now calming down in Meredith's arms

"Shall we go take a nap?" Meredith asked the little girl whose body finally stopped spasming and was now limb and exhausted in Meredith's arms

"Go, take her upstairs. I'll clean up the mess here and then I have to go

"Maggie will be back by then with the kids" Meredith told him as she stood up "She offered to stay here the whole evening" Meredith told Alex

"Go Mer. You both need a nap" Alex told her

"Thank you for everything, Alex" she said as she walked towards her own bedroom

"Shh, Ellie" She whispered as the little girl started groaning again

"I- b-oo" Meredith noticed how much harder Ellis got it with talking

"Shh, baby. Just take a deep breath and then we'll try to take a nap" Meredith said

"Aauw" Ellis groaned again

Meredith couldn't see her daughter like this. This regularly happens with Ellis if she's emotional

"Shh, baby" Ellis whispered again and pulled the girl closer, trying to protect her as much as possible

"M-ommy, T-oby auwch" Ellis whispered

"We'll talk after napping sweetie" Meredith said as her fingers brushed through Ellis' hair

Finally, soft snores were filling the room. Meredith couldn't try to sleep. Not after all of this, she would stay awake in case her daughter needed her. She could sleep early tonight. The kids could join her in the big bed, it's the weekend anyways.

Ellis napped for a while. The older kids already came home and joined them in the bed.

"Mommy? Can we watch a movie tonight with Ellie?" Zola asked

"Of course" Meredith smiled seeing how loyal her kids are

As the kids and Meredith kept talking, Ellis started to stir

"Hey, baby" Meredith whispered before Ellis opened her eyes

"Hmm" Ellis groaned and started to overstretch again

"Hey, hey. Wake up sweetie" Meredith smiled as the little girl opened her eyes a bit

"Ellie! We're gonna watch a movie tonight and you can pick the movie!" Bailey told her. Ellis smiled as some drool dripped down her mouth on the bib Ellis was wearing.

"Okay, let's get you changed and to the bathroom" Meredith said and lifted up the little girl, placing her on her hip

"M-ommy, Els-a! We w-atch Els-a!" Ellis was telling Meredith

"We will. First, let's clean you up, then we'll all do some homework and afterwards we're all gonna watch Frozen" Meredith told her daughter as she cleaner her up, changed her into a new pair of pajamas and helped her on the toilet.

Usually, Ellis did as much as possible to stimulate her independency but after this day, Meredith didn't have the strength to push her daughter even more

"M-ommy, me t-ummy!" Ellis told her as they were heading downstairs, her head resting in the crook of Meredith's neck

"Are you hungry? Aunt Maggie brought some food. Shall we take a look?"

"Yaaa" Ellis giggled a bit as Meredith kissed the little girl's head

"Wanna walk yourself?" Meredith asked once they were almost in the kitchen

Ellis shook her head no. It was clear that she wasn't feeling 100%.

"You don't have to. Let's sit you down so you can eat" Meredith smiled and walked into the kitchen.

"Mommy! What's for dinner?" Zola asked

"I think aunt Maggie made us lasagna!" Meredith guessed while she placed Ellis down on the chair to check the oven

"Yep, it's lasagna! It should be ready in a bit" Meredith said as she turned on the oven and sat down with the kids.

"When's daddy gonna be back?" Zola asked Meredith

"Tomorrow evening, baby" Meredith told Zola with a smile. She missed him.

They kept talking until the food was ready to serve. Meredith got the lasagna out of the oven and placed a piece on each plate before handing them out.

As they started to eat, it became clear that Ellis was too exhausted to do this task. Meredith placed Ellis on her lap, helped her scoop up the food and bring it to her mouth, reminding her to chew and swallow.

These things didn't come naturally. The little girl had to remind that she has to swallow, that she has to close her mouth and so much more.

So far, Ellis had no issues with going to the bathroom during the day but wears a diaper at night because sometimes accidents would happen, at night she also drools a lot because her mind isn't thinking to close her mouth and swallow as much as her siblings would.

They have come a long way but at this point, Meredith couldn't have been more proud of her youngest daughter that walks by herself most of the day, that still can talk a bit and make herself clear to her family and friends.

As they finished dinner, Meredith's phone started ringing. It was Miranda.

"Hey, Bailey. I'm sorry but I-" Meredith started saying through the phone

"Grey, what you did was unacceptable! I don't wanna see you at work for the first two weeks!" Miranda sounded angry

"Bailey, my daughter was having seizures, I-"

But Miranda interrupted her again "Grey, I don't wanna hear it! You didn't stay for post-ups, what if something happened with this patient?" Miranda asked

"Derek was there, he knew I checked everything in surgery. Any general surgeon could do a follow up" Meredith explained

"Grey, I don't wanna hear it! And if you wanna keep your job, you better reach out to the patient and apologize!" With this, Bailey hung up the phone, leaving a sad and panicking Meredith on the other side of the line

"Come on guys. Let's go watch a movie" Meredith said, trying to keep calm for the kids. She knew she made the right call to return home
