Faith Is A Powerful Thing

Andy and Maya were standing in the middle of what was Carina's room, Maya pacing back and forth.
"Three hours" said Maya as she looked at her watch
Andy nodded

"I need blood here!" Yelled Jo
"It's been three hours, we can't keep the mom under that longer." Said the anesthetiser.
"Okay. Everyone! Listen up!" Yelled Arizona "we're delivering completely. Jo close up Carina. Patch her and up to the ICU."
"Yes Robbins" said Jo as she began to deliver the baby fully.  "Okay Robbins team! Baby is out" said Jo as she finished closing up Carina
"Dr. Wilson she's crashing!" Yelled and intern and Jo rushed over
"Flat line!" Yelled Jo "Carina don't" whispered Jo as the pallets were brought over. "Charge to 200 now!" Yelled Jo

"Can someone get an update on Carina?" Asked Callie as she looked across the table to Amelia
"Doesn't look good Dr" said a nurse
"Baby or Carina?" Asked Amelia
"Neither one of them ma'am" she answered
Both of them looked down at Kate on the table.
"Everyone in this OR who believes in God or whatever the God you believe in. I want everyone praying" ordered Amelia

"Charge to 300!" Yelled jo again. As the incubator was rushed over to next doors OR
"Pulse is back dr!" Yelled the intern
"Thank you Lord" said Jo looking up "she's lost blood. I want her in transfusion, hourly updates and take her to the ICU" ordered Jo as she jogged over to the babies OR
"Carina?" Asked Pierce as they saw Jo
"Stable" said Jo "holding on" she said
"Okay. Everyone ready? Scalpel" asked pierce as she cracked the baby's chest open.

"You're taking your time on that suture" smiled Callie
"She doesn't need to look down at her hand and see this scar to make her remember everyday what she went through" said Amelia "I mean, if it works"
"We did a beautiful job. I have a good hunch" said Callie "I'll go update Arizona and get whatever news I can pick up"
"I'll wait for you to wake her up and update Bishop" said Amelia as she finished last details.
Kate was taken to her room, still fast asleep. Her hand in a cast.
"Maya?" Asked Callie as she knocked the door and walked into what was Carina's room
"Yes?!" Asked Maya as she jumped up from her sit
"Kate's out. She's fast asleep. We're waiting for her to wake up." Smiled Amelia
"She's okay?" Asked Maya worried.
"She is. We just need to wait and see how her nerve responds. She lost some blood but, she's healthy. She'll be back on her feet soon" smiled Callie and Maya hugged her tightly.
"Carina and the baby. It's been almost four hours." Said Maya worried
"Carina is in the ICU. She's reconvening. There was some complications in surgery. She's stable now." Said Jo as she walked in
Maya's face went pale "complications?" She asked
"Yes, Maya she's stable now. She is. Baby is still in surgery" said Jo

"This is a mess Arizona" said Pierce looking up at her
"We need to make a complete repair" said Maggie
"We can't, not all the same day. It's just, we can't" said Arizona shaking her head
"We finish the partial repair and we go back in next in two days after the first tissue layer is swelled down." Said Pierce
"Maggie, there's no two days in this cases" said Arizona
"Okay. Hands off" said Maggie "what are the options?" She asked
"All today is, it's imposible." Said Arizona. "If we go in tomorrow maybe just maybe stats will be better but swelling won't be gone" said Arizona
"We wait two days and we might run out of time" said Pierce

Kate's eyes began to slowly open and close again. But finally opened after Callie and Amelia walked in thinking she was out.
"Is my hand still there?" Asked Kate smiling.
Seems she didn't remembered a thing of what happened in the OR before she was put under.
"Sleeping beauty is up" smiled Amelia
"Was I out that long?" Asked Kate worried
"No no" said Amelia smiling "and you should go back to sleep"
"My hand?" Asked Kate again
"It's still early to say" said Callie "quite early"
As she said that Kate's eyes shut down again

"We're waiting" said Arizona
"We're waiting?" Asked Maggie surprised
"You keep on going and this baby won't make it off the table" said Arizona
"We wait, and this baby could not make it" said Maggie

Maya was sitting next to Kate's bed holding her good hand. Trying to keep her tears in.
"You did amazing bug" she said as she felt tears running down her cheeks "you know when you told us about Iraq. I froze down. I just felt every muscle in my body shiver it was like a cold water bucket falling over my head." After taking a deep breath she continued "then you appeared, like our guardian angel protected us from lane. And I'm so so sorry, I should be the one protecting you." She said breaking down in tears.
After Maya stopped crying Jo, Maggie, Arizona, Callie and Amelia walked in.
"Maya we need to talk to you" said Arizona
"We'll stay here" said Amelia as she walked over to Kate as the others walked out of the room. In between the coming and going Kate's eyes began to open again and there was a knock on the door. Jake came in.
"Hey" he smiled as he walked in
"Dr. Windstone" smiled Amelia
"Hey" smiled Callie with her huge smile.
"Hey" muttered Kate as she opened her eyes completely and smiled at Amelia
"Hand still there" said Amelia laughing
"That's good" smiled Kate
"There's some kinda guy here. Not sure you know him" said Callie as Kate looked at Jake.
"Hey you" she smiled as he walked over and pecked her lips
"Hospital..." coughed Callie laughing
"Sorry" smiled Kate as she laid her head back
"It's not a hurry. Not something we need to do right now. But, whenever you're ready. Whenever you feel up to." Said Amelia
"You want me to try move my hand" said Kate as Callie nodded
"There's no hurry tho" added Callie
"No no, I want to" said Kate
As she said that there was a crying heard outside the room. Maya's crying.
"What's? What is that?" Asked Kate trying to understand
The three of them exchanged looks and looked back at Kate
"Okay. Tell me please" said Kate hurried.
"Kate, it's just" began Amelia
"Something is wrong" said Kate as she began to get up
"Hold hold hold. Okay?" Said Callie laying her down again.
"Callie let me go" said Kate sternly
"Kate. No" said Amelia sharp but in a good tone
"It's my family. Let me go" said Kate struggling against them
"They'll inform you soon" said Callie trying to calm her down
"Inform?" Asked Kate turning pale "the baby is?" Asked worriedly looking at Jake "no, no no. Please no" she said
"Kate Kate. The baby is alive okay? Alive" said Jake.
"Why is my mom crying?" Asked Kate again
"There's been some complications." Said Amelia "both your mom and the baby" she said
"What? Both? Complications." She asked getting worked up
"Okay. I need you to calm down cause you're speeding up your heart rate and that's pressures your nerve okay ?" Said Callie "both of them are alive Kate. Both of them are stable."

"So, my baby. If you operate now, won't make it? If you wait? Won't survive the waiting part. But if you wait some small time and go in. Could make no improvement?" Asked Maya as she cleaned off her tears
"Yes, but maya we're working on a plan we're not standing here armed crossed waiting for the best okay?" Said Maggie
Maya nodded and as she remembered "carina, is she awake? She knows?" She asked
"She's not awake. She'll be soon. We'll inform her." Said Jo and maya nodded
"What is there to inform?"  Sarcastically laughed Maya.
"Maya.." said Arizona
"No I mean it. What is there to inform" she asked again.
