The jester's dance

Ladies and gentlemen, come and see
Who has come to amuse thee
It is the jester in his pretty facade
Who is so strange and oh so odd

Bring your children, bring your love
To see him pull from his hat a dove
Bring your mother, bring your father
To watch him mock even the scholar

He jiggles his thousand bells
He tells stories of even more hells
He pulls him apart and back together
There's no other bird of his feather

But beware, girls and boys
The jester plays with many toys
He is a jester of endless trade
He even plays with the end of a blade

You say how can he be more than a clown
He trips over his feet and he falls down
You may laugh at him and his trod
But it is he who laughs at God
