Elizabeth was peacefully sitting on the couch in the hotel room listening to some of Bucky's 40s music and writing in her journal since he was out getting something. She felt bad about last night, but she wasn't ready for it. Not yet.

When the door creaked open her journal was quickly shut. "Hey Elizabeth,"

"Hello, Bucky."

He sat next to her with a big smile on his face and a box in his hand. "Happy Birthday."

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Elizabeth quickly answered the phone when she saw it was Tony calling. Yet, that wasn't the only voice she heard on the other end of the line. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

"...thank you." She cracked a quick smile before getting up and moving to the corner of the room. "Could I talk to Steve, please?"

"Sure thing kid, enjoy your day." Is what Tony said before she was handed off to Nsatasha.

"Hey, Liz. How are things going over there with Bucky? I'm sorry I didn't get to say hi to you while I was there."

"Steve. God, it's so good to hear your voice." Quickly glancing at Bucky, she saw how uncomfortable and embarrassed he seemed. "I just wanted to say hi. Things are going... well to say the least."

Elizabeth couldn't tell but Steve was about to break down. He wanted what was best for Elizabeth's happiness, but at the same time, he wanted something else from her. "Good. Good. I'm glad."

Then the ling ended.

"I'm sorry Bucky, you were saying something?"

He flashes a smile and gets up. "No, it's not important. I'm going to grab a bite, want something?"

"A coffee would be nice. Thanks."

He nodded and he was out the door leaving Elizabeth in the room all by herself, open to do whatever. But the only thing she really wanted to do was open the box Bucky had left. So, she did.

She carefully picked up the black box, closed with a red ribbon that made a bow on the top. Putting it down on the dresser, next to the record player she pulled the bow.

After the lid was off, and the tissue paper was out, there was a present in the box alongside a card.

Dear Elizabeth,

I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I have put you and your family through. And I'm sorry I couldn't protect you like I promised I could, hopefully with this gift, you will always carry it as a way to protect yourself. You have been so open to me lately about your story with Ben that this gift seemed a bit necessary. I also want to apologize for last night. I'm just trying to redeem myself but everytime I take one step forward I get pushed back five steps. But, what I meant to say last night was that I love you, doll. I always have since the moment I saw you. It broke me when I knew you would never look at me the way you first did when you met me because of your parents death. It was best you knew.

Sincerely,

James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes.

The knife Elizabeth had saved from the night she was taken. That's what was laying in the box and that's what immediately brought her to tears. Ben ruined her life and she ruined what was left of Bucky's.

15 minutes later and she was on the couch, just staring at the knife and gripping onto the thing like her whole life depended on it.

"Elizabeth..." Her head shot up at the sight of Bucky with a brown bag in his hand and a coffee in his other. "...what are you doing?"

"Thinking..."

"About what?"

"Last night, I was healed. I want to know if it will happen again, but if not, then what will happen then?" Is all she said before wiping her dry tears that have been there for a few minutes. Of course Elizabeth didn't tell Bucky the whole story, but he didn't need to know it.

Bucky slowly took Elizabeth by the hands and pulled her up from the couch. Looking down at the ground, she couldn't control her tears anymore as they began to spill.

His flesh softly touched her cheek as she met his eyes.

"Do you think something's wrong with me? Maybe Killgrave did something or maybe it wa-"

Elizabeth immediately stopped speaking when his lips pressed against hers. The Love he felt for her and the lust they wanted to share with each other, it was all there and they both felt it.

Bucky broke free. "You're perfect, Liz."

Her hands slipped from his neck to his cheeks. "I love you too, James Bucky Barnes."

Elizabeth's hands were moving to the bottom of her shirt to take it off but he arrived sooner pulling it above her head and throwing it onto the ground, her pants were next. Bucky's shirt and pants were next.

She hopped on him, wrapping her legs around his waist and arms around his neck for support when he supported her lower back as they fell back onto the bed, their bodies colliding with one another.
