For now, I have a little treat for you. It's not part of the story proper but it will add texture to two important locations: the cafe and Jude's apartment. Locations are my favourite thing to write about, but I appreciate that hyper-detailed paragraphs of architecture can really ruin a mood or moment for a reader. That being the case, I've just been sitting on all this world building stuff and saving it for a rainy day.
And look at that, it just started raining outside.

Cosmic Brew isn't a place you go to get good service, it's a place you go to get good coffee, fast. You can expect the barista serving you to be every bit as sour-faced as the customers funneling into her cafe in the red-eyed hours of the morning. Relax, friend. That first sip of beautiful bean juice will have you forgetting all about how mean the scary lady with the horn-hair was to you. That's Jude, by the way. The manager.
