7. See No Evil

Wednesday morning you were sat in potions class next to Fred and George who were doing anything but paying attention. You kept your head down and scribbled your notes onto your parchment as Snape walked around the class lecturing about veritaserum. Fred tossed a balled up note into George's lap and he jumped a little in his seat
"Mr.Weasley do you have anything to add" snap asked walking towards your table. George looked at Fred but didn't say anything
"The note" Snape held out his hand waiting for George to hand it to him "today Mr.Weasley"
George reluctantly handed the note to Snape who slowly straightened the paper out reading what Fred wrote. His face twisted and he looked angry "twenty points from Gryffindor for passing the note....you pay attention in my class" Snape said looking between the two boys "and you don't discuss if you..... 'got lucky' last night" Snape made air quotes and quickly turned away from George who was now bright red. Fred was holding back a laugh and you punched him in the side
"Don't" you whispered. Snape continued on with the lesson and you kept glancing over at George who wouldn't look at you. You knew George was with Katie last night and that that is what Fred was referring to.
When class let out Fred and George were the first out of the door while you took your time collecting your things. Adrian walked up to your table and smiled down at you
"How are you doing after the party last weekend, you went and pulled a disappearing act on me"
"Oh yeah I guess I did" you laughed "I'm sorry about that, just had a bit too much to drink"
"Happens to the best of us, but I would like to continue what we started" you could feel the heat creep up your face and you looked down at your books
"Want to go to hogsmeade with me this weekend"
"Yeah sure, I'd like that"
"Excellent" Adrian smiled "I'll see you around okay?"
You just smiled and nodded before leaving the potions room.

You walked into the great hall for lunch and sat next to Lee and across from the twins
"You really hurried out of potions today" you said dropping your bag in the floor behind you "can't imagine why"
"Shut it" George said looking down at his lunch
"What happened" Lee asked
"Fred and George got caught passing notes in dear old Snapes class"
"It wasn't even a big deal" Fred insisted
"He read the note in front of everyone" you said turning to Lee
"What did it say" he asked his eyes getting wider
"Nothing" George mumbled
"Oh just Freddie asking little Georgeiekins if he had gotten lucky last night"
Lee burst out laughing which clearly irritated George
"It doesn't even matter" he said
"Oh I sure think it does" Lee replied "and did you tell Snape if you got lucky"
"Bloody hell no way, I'd never tell Snape about my sex life" George said finally cracking a smile and making Fred laugh. You felt like you had been stabbed in the stomach when the words left George's mouth but you just kept a smile on your face and ate your lunch.
"You going to hogsmeade this weekend Sam" Lee asked once he finally got his laughter under control
"Uhm yep, think so" you said not wanting to say anymore about it
"Are we going" Fred asked looking at George
"I don't know I hadn't made any plans" George shrugged
"Then who are you going with" Fred asked
"Oh uhm...."
"Oi sis" Fred threw some bread down the table to get Ginnys attention "are you going with Samantha to hogsmeade this weekend"
"No I hadn't planned on it" she answered
"What about you Hermione" Fred asked the other girl
"I have to study this weekend" Hermione said. All three boys turned back to you and waited for your answer
"Adrian asked me to go with him" you said finishing the last bites of your lunch and standing up
"Oh you've got to be kidding me" George rolled his eyes
"Really Samantha anyone but him" Fred whined.
"I'll see you guys later" You picked up your bag and exited the great hall as fast as you could.

The rest of the week flew by you turned in your defense against the dark arts paper, which was the most useless thing ever but when you tried telling Umbridge she wouldn't hear it and gave you detention, which you were about to be late to. You ran down the halls as fast as your legs would carry you and you finally made it to her office
"Samantha" she squeaked and smiled at you "I was worried you were about to be late"
She motioned for you to sit at the table next to her desk
"I'll be having you write lines tonight" she informed you but you already knew that, Harry had told you all about it.
"You will be writing 'I will not speak out in class'.....understood?" You nodded and picked up the quill she had set on the table. You began to write on the parchment and your hand began to burn. When you looked up Umbridge was smiling down at you
"Something the matter dear" You shook your head and continued to write. The pain was almost unbearable and you shot up from the desk
"Samantha" Umbridge said clearly startled
"This is barbaric" you shouted knocking everything off the table "you can't do this!"
"I very well can do this I am your teacher and will be given the respect I deserve"
"You're a looney old bat! You don't deserve anything"
"Watch your mouth" Umbridge threatened and picked up her wand
"Or what?! You don't believe we should know how to properly defend ourselves so you're going to attack a defenseless student?!" By now you were yelling loud enough for people in the hallway to hear
"That's it I've had enough" Umbridge finally yelled back "crucio"
You were overtaken with the worst type of pain you had ever experienced in your life. You could think of nothing else but the pain as your body collapsed on the ground. You screamed out as she continents the curse
"STOP" you shrieked "STOP"
She finally let up and placed her wand back on her desk while you laid motionless on the floor.
"That'll be all for tonight Ms. Green.... You may go" she said sitting down at her desk and attending to her paperwork. You laid on the floor for a few more moments trying to catch your breath. When you left her office tears started streaming down your face and fell to the floor once again. You hugged yourself as quiet sobs escaped your lips
"Ms......Green" you looked up and were met with Snapes eyes "what is the meaning of.....this" he said vaguely motioning to you on the floor.
"I.....I just..." you didn't know what to say, whether or not you should tell him what had just happened in Umbridges office "nothing I was just leaving detention and I fell"
"Well seeing as you are not bleeding I think you should forgo the hospital wing and go back to your common room.... Immediately" you just nodded and climbed to your feet and slowly made your way back to Gryffindor tower.
You prayed that none of your friends would be in the common room but of course both Fred and George were sat in front of the fire talking. You kept your head down and walked straight for the stairs
"Oi get back here Samantha" George called after you
"Come tell us how detention with Umbitch went" Fred said making himself laugh.
"I'm tired you guys I was just gonna head up to bed" you said without turning around
"Come on two minutes, it can't be that bad" Fred said. You finally turned around and both of the boys faces dropped
"You're crying" George said slowly standing up
"Very astute observation" you tried joking
"What happened" Fred asked "Harry said it hurt and everything, but we didn't think it was that bad"
"It wasn't really" you said showing the boys your hand
"Then why are you crying Samantha" George asked looking more concerned
"I can't tell you" you shifted your eyes to Fred "either of you"
"Come on please you can tell us anything" Fred said stepping closer to you but you only backed away. You couldn't even think about what had just happened let alone tell anyone else about it, fresh tears started to fall and you backed away from the boys before quickly running up to your room. You climbed into bed and hid under your blankets finally letting out the sobs that had been trapped inside of you, your body shook and hugged yourself tightly.
A minute later there was a knock at your door
"Samantha" George's soft voice floated through your room. You didn't answer, you didn't want to be seen.
"I'm coming in" he finally said and you heard the door click closed behind him. The bed sank slightly when he sat down but you still didn't move.
"Can I come under" he asked and still you didn't answer. George pulled the blankets up and climbed under with you. When he saw your face he frowned even more
"What happened love" he asked wiping your face and slowly running his finger through your hair. You closed your eyes tightly not being able to look at his face when you finally say it
"She.... She used the cruciatus curse on me" you whispered. You heard a small gasp escape George's lips and he wrapped his arms around you tightly and you buried your face into his chest
"We have to tell someone, McGonagall maybe"
"No......just not right now. Just stay here for a little while... with me"

George left your room late last night after you had calmed down but you still woke up before the sun. You stayed in bed looking at the fall leaves outside your window. The events of yesterday still playing on loop in your mind making you feel nauseous. You finally made yourself get out of bed and get dressed but you dreaded the idea of seeing your friends today, you didn't want to talk about it with anyone else. Fred, George, Katie, Angelina, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny were all sitting in the common room whispering when you walked down the stairs. Ginnys head flew up when she saw you and and ran to you and wrapped you in a hug
"George told us what happened"
"Oh" was all you could manage to get out
"I love you" Ginny said finally letting go of you and you smiled
"Love you to Gingin"
Everyone else just watched as you approached the circle
"I'm sorry Samantha" Harry finally said "she's not going to get away with this"
You looked down at your feet not knowing what to say
"Did you sleep alright" Fred asked
"Yeah. George stayed in bed with me most of the night and I was able to fall asleep" you said without really thinking about it. Katie looked over to George
"Oh you did" she said
"Katie.... It wasn't- it wasn't anything. She was crying and I felt bad" George tried to explain. You bit the inside of your cheek trying to stop yourself from crying but what George had just said stung a bit. George followed an angry Katie out of the room and I don't think anyone knew what to say
"That was out of line Samantha I'm sorry" Fred said pulling you onto his lap and giving you a big hug. Angelina looked sad for you but forced a smile when you moved to take a seat next to her, she placed her hand on your leg and gently rubbed her thumb back and forth.

After you spent the morning with your friends trying to take your mind off of everything you headed upstairs to change for hogsmeade. However, you accidentally ran into Katie in the corridor she was humming a familiar tune making you stop in your tracks
"Uptown girl" you said
"Oh you know the song?! It's by some muggle Billy something" you nodded "George showed it to me, it's our song" she gushed and your heart dropped "oh and I'm sorry for being a bit of a prick earlier it was just a little shocking to hear George was in your bed last night" she explained
"Why would that be weird we've been every friends for years"
"Oh I mean well... it just doesn't really seem like it is all" she shrugged and walked off still humming that horrible song.
