"You really want me to be your dad?" he asked softly.
"If I had to choose a dad, I would choose you Bucky," she smiled in an innocent way. "You're the best."
Bucky smiled wider and looked at Y/N before letting out a breathy laugh and picking up Rori in a hug. Careful of course of her arm. Rori giggled at the hug and Y/N held a cheek hurting grin watching the two.
For Rori, she had just gained a dad and was overjoyed at the addition. For Bucky, he was completely in awe at the little girl in his arms. Sure the universe picked him for her, but she chose him personally. Bucky couldn't even fathom the thought, so he just held onto her and hugged her for the next few minutes taking in the moment that was going to change his life forever.
_______________
The moment was bittersweet and heart breaking in the best way. Y/N was so happy to see the acceptance her daughter had, though she wasn't surprised. Bucky had become a very intimate part of their family and her little girl was always one to love people hard.
She took in the moment, tearing up like Bucky as she watched him practically mold their little girl into his chest as if he were making up for the million of hugs he missed over the last 7 years.
There was one thing though... Sure, Rori chose him as a dad, but the actual fact of that needed to be discussed.
She didn't break up the moment immediately, instead let them talk and hold the other in joy. But once Rori was ready to run off to watch a movie and hang out with Bucky even more, she had to slow her down.
"Sunshine, wait a second," Y/N said just before Rori could make a run for the living room. "We need to talk about something else."
"What else?" she asked with a slight tilt of her head. She looked a lot like her mom right there, Bucky noticed.
"Well, um, I'm overjoyed that you want Bucky to be your dad, but," she paused, not knowing how to go about this. I mean it wasn't going to have a bad ending considering what just happened, but this was much bigger news in a sense.
"But there's a little more to this than it seems, sweetheart," Bucky finished for Y/N, sending her a reassuring look. "Come here for a second." Rori turned to him and he picked her up to place her in his lap as he sat back at the table.
Rori sent the two a confused look, but there was also a look of intrigue.
"Have either of us ever told you how we met?" Bucky asked. Rori shook her head looking up at him. "Well, a good while ago, almost 8 years now, you're mom and I were at a restaurant with our friends."
"I was with Aunt Hope and Uncle Scott and also Peggy," Y/N added.
"And I was with Mr. Rogers, your teacher, along with another friend of mine," Bucky said. Rori nodded her head showing she was following. "We eventually both went to go get a drink at the bar, and you're mom and I ran into each other."
"Quite literally," Y/N mumbled under her breath with a laugh and Bucky smiled at the memory.
"Wait? 8 years ago? That's forever," Rori said.
"It's been a long time, yes," Y/N laughed. "Bucky and I talked for a long time and got to know each other kind of at the restaurant. To keep it short and rated PG," she added softly. "Bucky and I hung out for a little and well... about 9 months later I had you."
Rori wasn't a dumb child. She was quite the opposite. Plus, her mom was a doctor and one that educated her child in how the body works. No she hadn't necessarily given her the birds and the bee talk yet, but she knew that a baby stayed in your belly for 9 months.
