When Ron and Harry got back to the lavatory after finishing interrogating Draco, Orion told them what had happened with Hermione and explained to them that he'd taken her to the hospital wing.

The next day Orion was in his practice room with Professor McGonagall who was teaching him how to transform into a wolf.
"We'll start slowly and only go one step at a time so you can get the feel for the transformation." she explained to which Orion nodded. "Good. Now I want you to focus on the wolf you're turning into, picture it very clearly in your mind. Now once you've done that I want you to imagine yourself becoming the wolf." McGonagall said.
"Understood." Orion said before he closed his eyes and pictured what the wolf looked like when he met it. How tall it was, the color of its eyes, the texture of its fur, the shape of the face, everything. Once he had a clear picture of the wolf in his head he visualized himself turning into the wolf. Unbeknownst to him McGonagall watched as the young boy in front of her slowly transform into a black wolf.
'You continue to surprise me Orion.' McGonagall thought to herself.
Orion slowly opened his eyes to find himself closer to the ground and when he looked down he didn't see his hands, instead he saw black paws.
"Congratulations Mr. Black, you have finally become an animagus." McGonagall said gaining Orion's attention.
Now noticing another person in the room Orion's animal instincts took over and he turned and growled at the person, not recognizing them, and identifying them as a possible threat. Once Orion began growling at her McGonagall's smile faded and was replaced with a serious look.
"Listen to me Orion don't fall to your animal instincts, remember who you are." she spoke while slowly backing up and raising her hands in a non-threatening way as Orion continued to growl at her. "Remember your friends... remember Hermione." McGonagall said in an attempt to reach out to him. Orion who had been slowly advancing upon her, suddenly came to a halt and closed his eyes cringing and began to shake his head. When the wolf opened its eyes once again no longer were they the piercing yellow like before, but they were now stormy grey, just like Orion's eyes. The wolf then looked up at McGonagall before cocking its head to the side in confusion and sitting.

McGonagall breathed a sigh of relief that Orion hadn't lost himself to the animal instincts. "Now Mr. Black I suggest that you transform back into your normal self so that we can have a proper conversation." McGonagall suggested.
Orion then once again closed his eyes and pictured his human self and imagined transforming back into himself. The transformation was once again slow but Orion was able to turn back into his normal self.
"Apart from that brief lapse in control I'd say that this was a complete success." McGonagall said making Orion jump for joy.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! I did it! I actually did it! Thank you Professor. Thank you so much." Orion said going up and hugging McGonagall which caught her completely by surprise as she started to awkwardly pat his back.
