During the summer, Orion had been practicing at home with his animagus transformation and being able to transform faster and move around easier. He was also practicing his magic in transfiguration, defense, and charms while also keeping up with his regular workout schedule, which he had increased.
However, a month and a half into the break, he received some shocking news from his mother. His father had escaped from Azkaban! Orion didn't know how he had escaped Azkaban, but his father was now free from that wretched prison. Orion had expected his father to come straight home but knew that would be foolish as the Ministry was hunting him.
About a week before school started, Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall arrived at Black Manor to speak with Orion and his mother. They had all gone to the living room to sit down and discuss what the professors wanted from him.
"Mrs. Black, as you are well aware, your husband, Sirius Black, has escaped from Azkaban," McGonagall stated.
"Yes, I am well aware that my husband has escaped. What of it?" Chloe responded in an offended tone.
"Mrs. Black, we are here to talk about the safety of your son at Hogwarts this year. The Ministry is having dementors placed at every entrance to the grounds at Hogwarts to look for and capture Sirius Black. We are afraid that the dementors won't be able to tell the difference between Sirius Black and Orion since they are so closely related." Dumbledore said in a calming voice.
"Dementors? At Hogwarts? What is the Ministry thinking?!" Chloe said, alarmed.
"Believe me, Mrs. Black, I am not fond of the idea either, but unfortunately, I have no choice in the matter," Dumbledore said.
"What if-- What if my father was captured? Would he be given a fair trial?" Orion asked.
"I do not believe he would be given a trial, dear boy, due to the nature of his crimes," Dumbledore said sadly.
"But why not? He never had a trial in the first place! They just sent him straight to Azkaban without one!" Orion barked, standing up with his hands clenched into fists.
"Mr. Black, what do you mean he never had a trial?" McGonagall asked, shocked.
"It's true. My husband wasn't given a trial when he was accused; they just sent him straight off to Azkaban." Chloe said sadly as tears came to the edge of her eyes.
"He should have been given a trial. If he wasn't, then our enemies have already infiltrated the Ministry. I will go speak to Amelia Bones, Head of Magical Law Enforcement, to have her get him a fair trial by Veritaserum." Dumbledore said as Orion expressed his thanks and sat back down. "Now, onto the main reason we've come here today, we think it would be unsafe for Orion here to take the Hogwarts Express to school due to dementors searching the train before it arrives at Hogwarts. So to avoid this, we have decided to allow Orion to floo into Hogwarts for his own safety. So, on September 1st, throw some powder into the fire and say Dumbledore's Office, and I shall grant you access to floo straight to Hogwarts."
