Grinning faces

Finally looked up to see a girl stare back at her sporting a huge Cheshire grin.

Never had she been so happy. Well... except for the time she found out that she was selected in the audition to become a VJ. Or the time she got really good score at the exams. Well, she usually was a very happy person but this time it felt different. A thrill went up her spine and her grin broadened when she remembered her very own response. Finally taking a deep breath she settled down to complete her makeup as to compliment her newly donned dress. A task which was once easy but now seemed a bit tough for she couldn't stop smiling at what she had done. Even her hair dresser who had stopped by, had to ask her to stay still so that he could complete her look. As soon as she was done, her alarm sounded reminding her about her shoot. Hurriedly leaving a message to her mother's phone that the shooting might end late, she rechecked her phone for any new messages, switched it off and left.

After quite a long nap, he managed to stir awake to the buzzing noice of his phone. Without paying attention to the caller, he answered only to jerk up when he realised it was his master. The call had left the lad wide awake, for afterall he was to head to the shooting spot within an hour to once again work on those steps. Looking about he noticed his stuff somewhat still scattered about. Not bothering to clean up, he just had a wash and sat down again to only unlock his phone. There were loads of notifications. Most were his friends tagging him in posts and messaging him, when something caught his eye.

Manimegalai (4 messages). Well that was shocking. Not being able to bear the suspense he immediately clicked on the notification to open the message. A smile slowly started to creep up his face as he read and reread the messages.

"Why thankyou so much for remembering me your Highness."

"Shootku ponathala phone paakathathukelam sorry ah. Wow."

"Analum nee ivloo nallavan endu nambura konjam kastam than.🙃"

"Ana ondu un friends paawam. Ipdi oruka pesina oru aaltaye koththu vitutiye ma. 😂"

Damn. Can a girl be sweet and cheeky at the same time?! 'Kurumbu. Athan ivava describe pana koodiya word.' He thought laughing. He couldn't help but read the messages again and again with a cheesy grin plastered onto his face. This was how his friend found him about ten minutes later.

"Machan? Enada phone ah paathu sirichondu iruka?" He asked nearly startling the poor guy.

"Ena da?"

"Sir apdi phone la enatha paathu sirikuringa endu keten." He asked once more, staring at his friend in shock. 'Wasn't Hussain quite an attentive person? How come he was so into his phone, just grinning away?' Wondered his friend.

"Athu ondum ilada. Nee ena inga vanthiruka? Master kooptara? Athukulla time aacha?" He asked getting up, totally and quite smoothly changing the topic of the conversation.

"Master koopdla ana next shot ku almost time aahuthu. Nanum spotku than poren athan nee ena mathiri variya endu paaka than vanthen." Noticing the very obvious change in context, his friend let it go, as he probably would have revealed it if it was something worth sharing.

"Sure machan. Oru five minutes la nan vanthudren. Nee wait pannu."

As his friend left to wait outside, he hurriedly replied to the text, wore his shoes and connected the phone to the charger before heading out. On his way to the shooting spot he kept rethinking about the past few minutes since he read the messages. The spiral of emotions he had felt was never like before. Also he had never acted like this before. He had lied to his friend... He had been staring at the screen for a long time... Now he is wishing that he brought his phone with him to the shooting spot. Wow. He was seriously priortising this girl over his work stuff. He never brings his phone to the shooting spot cause he might get distracted. His work was THAT important to him. Something must have really gotten into him cause who else does this stuff for a person they have had just one conversation with. 'Padathula vaara hero.' His mind mocked. This wasn't a film. This was real life and there was certainly nothing filmy about real life. 'Dei Hussainu. Intha ennam elam romba thappu. Nee paatuku un velaya paathutu iru. Ava summa oru fan. Nothing else. Purinjutha.' His brain was so strong and focus on the realistic approach to the whole situation, whereas his poor heart yearned for the opposite. Just as he had finally made it to the spot. He bid bye to his friend and to the irrational thoughts about his new fan. Hopefully for good with the latter.

Manimegalai was enjoying her shoot that evening. She seemed to be in really good spirit. Cracking jokes. Making fun. Maintaining a very happy spirit. A total contrast to the morning. Infact it contrasted so much that the cameraman gave her a weird look during the break. Yet none of that mattered to Mani for she was in the clouds now. All her cheekiness and cheeriness were back and surprisingly even after the long shoot she was still high in spirits. As soon as the director called packup, she hurriedly went to her room and switched on her phone.

1 missed call from Amma

3 messages from Amma

The last one sent a thrill down her spine. One look at the ones above it, she clicked on her mother's messages.

"Veeta vara innum late ahuma? Thala seriya valikuthu nan thoonga poren."

"Key unkita irukula? Apdi ila endal atha enga vachirukam endu theriyumla?"

"Saapadu kitchenla disheskulla irukum. Soodu pani  than vachutu poren. Varathukulla soodu kuranjudichuna neeye atha konjam soodu pani saapdu. Verum vaithula padukathe."

'Achoo. Mommyku thalavaliya. Paawam. Ana ivata nanum ethuna thadava solrathu. Enaku night night ah wait panama thoongu mommy endu.' The daughter in her fumed. Texting back a message confirming that she will do so and will be leaving in a short while, Mani settled back into her chair. Slowly removing and keeping away her accessories she then proceeded to change back into the comfy clothes she wore from home. Just as she was done only did it occur to her that she didn't still read nor reply to his messages. 'Acho. Atha marantene. Thapa ninaichiruparo. Whatsapp vanthutu reply panala endu? Ila ila. Apdi yosi vaipilla. Seri ena vantha endu papom. Ingaye papom ah ila veeta poitu papoma? Shoot mudiyave semma late ahituthu. Pesama veeta poiye reply panuvam. Yeah. It would be easier.' She thought as she packed her stuff and turned to leave the room. Just as she locked the room and started to walk towards the parking lot did her heart mock her. 'Nee ivlo solriye inga late ahituthu, veeta poi papam endu. Ana athu varaikum nee thaaku pidipiya?! Nee avloo nallavala?!' 'Iraiva! Konja neram summa iruka matiya?! Nan veeta poi than papen. Athu varaikum suspense thaanguren.' Her mind replied strongly. Just as she passed the security guard, he gave her a weird look. Till that it didn't cross her that she had been having a conversation in her own head and had been giving actions with her hands. Letting her hands drop she gave him a smile before nearly running towards her car.

'Loosu loosu. Avar ena ninaichirupar. Nee unakula pesura seri ana kaiya aati aatiya pesanum. Cha. Seri. First veeta povam. Aprom michatha paakalam.' Thinking so she revved the vehicle and started her journey home, which to her surprise was a totally smooth one.
