"Well, that was emotional." Nathan dusts his hands and retrieves the other cup of tea on the table.
Whilst drying the cups and putting them away, the doorbell rings again. Nathan freezes. Hadn't everyone already left? Gabrielle was one of the last, and he had just seen her off. He contemplates opening the door for this unexpected visitor, all in vain as the guest barges in on his own accord.
"Sup Nathan." He greets.
Hmmm. He didn't quite account for this person, but he wasn't really surprised. In fact, Nathan could have kicked himself. Why didn't he suspect this long ago?
Recovering from the initial shock, Nathan launches a comeback. "What kind of visitor politely rings the doorbell and then breaks in?"
"Me." Boyang smiles triumphantly, and looks around the room. "Got any food? The other flats didn't have any instant noodles."
"Instant noodles?"
"Yeah. You have any?"
"No."
"Oh. Too bad then." Boyang waltzes into the kitchen, raiding the larder. "Where's all the food?"
"Figured I wouldn't want any food wastage, so I planned in advance."
"Digestive biscuits? Chamomile Tea?" Boyang tossed box after box out of the larder, and turned around. "Well, nice talk. I'm leaving." He prized Nathan with one of his signature smiles, and then scooted out of the room quickly, muttering something about figuring out the code to a safe in Satoko's kitchen.
Sitting down on the chair, Nathan looked out the door Boyang had just left through. Quite a character, that Chinese man was. The nonchalance he displayed in a solemn situation was fairly abnormal, and Nathan was at the very least impressed. It seemed like Boyang's sporadic strangeness was definitely an act, one cleverly designed to disguise his knowledge of the truth right under everyone's noses. The truth that their lives were all fantasy. And boy, did Boyang exploit that truth.
Well, he shouldn't worry about that anymore. As far as he was concerned, Boyang could do whatever he liked. If staying for longer in this world was what Boyang desired to do, albeit a world of fantasy and fiction, so be it. Nathan had better things to care about; going back into the real world, upping his quad game, studying medicine at university, heck, maybe even picking up a medal or two from some major competitions.
He gives his room a final glance, sighing a little in reluctance. He would miss this place, given that he wouldn't be likely to return. A thought that comforts him was that he would still see his friends back in the real world, however the extent to which they remembered this dream would have to be seen. Nathan makes a mental note to himself to bring this up the next time they met at an international competition.
He shrugs his shoulders and walks through the open door as Boyang had left it, walking into another dimension, walking back into the real world.
