"lets do this!" Daniel cheered as he pulled on his helmet.
I pressed a kiss to his back.
"good luck" I whispered.
I pulled away then walked to the pit wall.
"hi Andreas" I greeted.
He smiled and held out a headset for me. I thanked him and put it on before sitting down.
"what are the chances of rain?" I asked.
"10%"
not likely then
All the cars then rolled out onto the grid for the formation lap.
Max lead off from P1, heading down to what could be a crucial turn 1 in a few moments time.
Lewis slots in behind and then the rest follow suit.
Max got back on the grid backing the pack up slowly as pulls into the P1 position.
Once everyone was lined up the lights started going out.
"and that's lights out and away we go!"
Max had a great start but ran wide on turn 2 allowing for Lewis move ahead.
"yes!" I clapped.
On lap 2 Lando was in P9 and Daniel in P10. Lando ran wide allowing for him to move up.
yes again!
Behind the top four, Carlos was holding onto fifth but Pierre was in DRS zone. Charles right behind them was clinging on to 7th.
Lewis had a pretty decent gap between him and Max, so there wasn't much to worry about.
On lap 11 both McLaren's had DRS as they tried to overtake Fernando in P8.
Daniel was ahead on the road and jerked out right into the chicane, to make the move stick.
P8 baby!
Lando then got past at Turn 11.
"yes boys!" Andreas cheered.
I smiled.
Lap 13 Lewis extended his lead over Verstappen by two seconds.
Most teams were hoping to go to at least 20 laps in before starting their pit stops, but at this rate these tires might not make that distance
On lap 15 Daniel passed Charles.
I let out a scream and started clapping.
Lap 17 he pitted to do the undercut on Pierre.
"Daniel box to overtake Gasly. box to overtake Gasly"
I turned around and saw him come in.
On lap 18 Mercedes boxed Valtteri first and Daniel was able to do the undercut on both Pierre and Carlos.
