Tris

It's been a couple of days now since my father moved into my house. Right now, all we are waiting for is for my mother to recover from her current situation.

I asked him.

"I'm waiting for you... where did you go?" he asked but it was different... the usual look on his face and lips were missing. He looked like he was hiding sadness in him.

"Furniture store,"

"You should have told me... hinatid nalang sana kita,"

I sighed and I was not hiding the observing look on my face. I was low-key telling him that I am noticing that he is not okay.

"Can we talk?" he then talked after seconds of silence after he figured out that I'm observing him.

"Of course, about what?" I quickly agreed. He was nodding as he guided me inside his car.

"I'm leaving for America," at first it didn't really sink in and I just went blank for a second then eventually it did. He is leaving... I was shocked but I stayed silent so I can give him time to give his reason.

"You're important, Tris, because I love you... but I completely understand what you are feeling. As much as I want to stay here and be with you, I just don't have anything to hold on to here anymore. You have to spend more time with your family from now on and I don't want you to feel any pressure that you have to make time to meet me..." he explained, word by word.

I took a deep breath.

It is sad... him leaving, it makes me want to cry but I know I can't force him to stay here if he really doesn't want to be here anymore so all I can do for him until this end is to understand all of his reasons.

I stood up, smiling in pain and approached him to ask for a hug. While smiling he accepted it and tightly hugged me back.

"I hope at some point I was a help to you..." he said with his usual smile finally back on his face. He is just worried that he will hurt me with his decision that's why he was looking sad earlier and now that he knows that I understand him... he looked happy. That's a relief.

"You are... all the time." I answered, coming straight from my heart.

"Meeting you was one of the biggest achievements that I obtained all my life... you made me think that I'm deserving of being loved and I'm very thankful," I said and he gave me an adoring smile for it.
