Blaine couldn't feel a thing. It was a strange feeling to have no control over the own body. He didn't even know if he was alive. It felt like a strange dream where he wasn't able to wake up. Sometimes he could hear voices but he couldn't sort out if it was a dream or if it was real.
It freaked him out because he couldn't concentrate on one thing. It felt like prison to him. The only good thing was that he couldn't feel any pain.
One time he thought he had heard Kurt whisper something, but that couldn't be real. Maybe it was also a dream, but Blaine concentrate on the few words which he thought Kurt had said. It was the only thing he could really concentrate on and he didn't want to let the thought go.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Weeks went by. McKinley slowly started to get back to normal, even though it wasn't possible. Mr. Schue had called everyone from old and new New Directions to meet at McKinley for a little coming together. Rachel and Santana had stayed in Lima for the whole time. Quinn, Puck, Mike, Finn, and Mercedes also came for the meeting.
Kurt was walking through the hallways of McKinley and shivered, because all the memories were coming back. Everywhere were lying flowers and the holes from the shooting were covered. As he walked in the choir room there was an uncomfortable silent. Especially the kids who were in this room during the shooting were in their own little world.
"Kurt. I am glad you're here" Mr. Schue said and smiled at Kurt. "I can't stay that long. I have to go to the hospital, but I wanted to be here for Blaine" Kurt said and slightly smiled back at Mr. Schue. "How is he doing?" Mr. Schue asked. "Unchanged. It can still go one way or the other. He's on the brink" Kurt explained emotionless.
He had tried to confront himself with every situation that could happen. But it felt unreal because nothing has changed since the day of the shooting. Kurt hasn't got much sleep in the last few weeks. Nearly every second he had spent in the hospital. He even knew every nurse by name and understood what the monitors next to Blaine's bed meant.
Kurt took place next to Finn and Rachel. He was pleased to note that Finn and Rachel were holding hands. Kurt hadn't the chance to talk to either of them about their current relationship, but it seemed like they have sorted things out.
"So, I have called you because after what happened maybe we all need a little comfort in music and support each other. I know for some of you it may be even dramatic to be here in this building, but I hope that I can do something to bring back the feeling of safety for you. I also want to do something else." Mr. Schue said and stepped back to the piano.
"I know that religion is not for everybody and we had that discussion a long time ago, but we nearly lost someone from our little family and we lost some colleagues and friends. I brought everyone a candle and I thought it would be nice to light them together and pray or think about them. Especially for Blaine" He explained and gave everyone a candle.
It was a sweet gesture and Kurt felt the cohesion in this room. Mr. Schue lit his candle up and passed his fire to Finn and he gave it to Rachel and so on. For a moment it was quiet and Kurt prayed to whoever that Blaine would be fine. "You can sing whatever you want" Mr. Schue said after a while of silence.
Unique, Marley, Kitty, Quinn, and Mercedes were singing a magically version of Ariana Grandes "No tears left to cry". You could see in their faces that it somehow helped to sing. Especially, Unique, Marley and Kitty, who were in this room during the shooting. They were nearly frightened when they started to sing, but then they were getting comfortable.
Tina, Mike, and Artie sang from Lewis Capaldi "Before you go". Tina confessed after the song that she would have given everything up, to be with the glee club in this room during the shooting. From outside it seemed horrible to say that, but Kurt understood Tina. He also would have wanted to stay with Blaine in this school instead of waiting outside and not knowing what's going on.
Ryder, Jake, Puck, and Sam chose "Not today" by Imagine Dragons. Sam sang the line "Its gotta get easier, oh easier somehow" directly to Kurt. Kurt knew that the fact, that his bestie was lying in a coma hurt him very much. Maybe it would get easier sometime if Blaine woke up.
Finn and Rachel sang the song "I wanna grow old with you" by Westlife. They let everybody take part on their newly discovered love. Kurt was very happy for them and he made up in his mind to have a girl talk with Rachel and a serious brother talk with Finn. They better have spoken about the time when Rachel goes back to New York. Even Santana didn't make a spiteful comment on their love song.
"Okay it's my turn. Don't judge me, I haven't sung that much lately" Kurt said and prepared the song which was on his mind. He initially sang "Are you with me" by nilu. He couldn't hold his tears back. It was nearly like a prayer to Blaine to wake up. When he finished the song and opened his eyes, everyone was crying.
At the worst time his phone rang. "Oh god, I am so sorry" He apologized and let Brittany and Santana prepare their song. "Hello?" He asked as he didn't look who called. "Kurt, he is waking up!" Pam screamed in his ear. "What?!" He was seriously confused, because he has thought about this moment in every second of the last weeks. "Blaine, he is waking up. Hurry up!" Pam cried out happy. "Oh my god" He turned around confused just to look into seventeen different pair of eyes. "Um... Blaine... he is waking up..." Kurt said. He couldn't believe it.
"What?!" Everyone screamed and jumped up. "No way. He is such a fighter" "Go! We will come in a few hours. Not that he is overwhelmed" Rachel said and hugged Kurt. "Love you all" Kurt shouted, grabbed his stuff, and ran out of the school.
