We all change out of our ridiculous outfits just as Clay's mom arrives.
When I see her car pull into the driveway I rush towards the living room. The front door opens just as I reach the open room. I stride across the living room towards the door and practically jump into her arms.
"Well hello sweetheart." Clay's mom holds me tight in her arms. "You doing alright?"
I nod my head against her chest not saying a word. I just want to bask in her hold. I have needed it for so long I'm not going to waste a second that I have with her.
"There's my son." She says and I glance over my shoulder seeing Clay enter the room.
"Hi mom." Clay makes his way over and hugs her. I'm still attached to his mother, so he also hugs me in the process.
"You two are acting suspicious. What are you two hiding?"
"Do you want to say it baby?" Clay asks me.
"We're dating." I say bluntly.
"You haven't been this whole time?" She looks between us. "This is news to me." She lets out a little laugh.
"We were scared." I say softly.
"Correction. She was scared. I've always loved her stupid ass." I swat at him for his comment but he moves out of the way before grabbing me and pulling me into his chest.
"I did bring over some fan mail. I've been stopping over at the P.O. Box during the past few weeks and grabbing what's there."
"I'll go grab it. Let you two have some bonding time." Clay let's me go and walks out his front door leaving his mom and I to catch up.
I spend the next hour engaging in conversation with his mom. I tell her about everything that's happened. How scared Clay and I are and how much we are struggling. She gets it especially because she sees Clay in the same way I do.
"I'm glad the two of you are finally dating though. I know you'll treat my son right. You are already a part of the family. It just makes sense. You seem happy too." Clay's mom's voice is warm and welcoming as she speaks.
"I am happy. Just... scared. I feel like if Clay's face gets leaked it will be all my fault. You know he's been working so hard on keeping that part of him private. He teases of course, but that's Clay. I don't want Clay and Dream to be synonymous. Once his face is revealed they become the same person. He isn't just the guy with a mask anymore. I don't know."
"You want to talk about what happened?" Clay's mom focuses on just me.
"Babe." Clay says in a serious tone as he enters the living room. His mom and I have made the couch our home for the time being.
"I need you to see this." The concern in his voice is strong. I can literally see the tenseness in his body.
I leave the couch and walk over to him. "What's up?" I glance over his hands to see what's got him so frantic.
Clay turns his phone to me. "I can air out the secrets now if you like. I have the proof that this wedding isn't as fake as you make it seem. "I love you Clay"."
The moment the content of the tweet leaves my mouth I'm sprinting to bathroom. The little food I've consumed has filled the toilet and I can't stop the gut wrenching feeling in my stomach. I genuinely feel like I could die.
"There's a lot of replies to that tweet. Like, it's trending right now. How the hell am I going to clear this up?" Clay starts to pace the hallway outside the bathroom. He's not saying it to be insensitive he's just freaking out. I throw up, he paces.
