Because she was going to Italy and going to meet a rival clan, Cher knew anything could happen. Because of this, she went to see her mother and sister. Her flight was at night so she could spend the morning with them. They talked, joked, played cards, watched tv. Then they had lunch and she Georganne went to wash the dishes.

"Listen I have to tell you something" Cher said "I have a last minute flight tonight for Italy"

"Why?" Gigi asked

"I have a meeting with one of the rival clans from... my other line of work" Cher told her

"What?!!!" Gigi exclaimed

"Pipe down, mom could hear us" Cher said

"Stupid what if something happens to you?? What if you don't come back??" Gigi started rambling

"Georganne listen to me, this is why I'm telling you the real reason I'm going. I have done this hundreds of times and know how to take care of myself. I know how to get out of dangerous situations" She assured her sister

"I don't want anything to happen to you. How will I tell mom?? It's gonna break down me and destroy her" Gigi said

Cher felt really bad for her sister, this is why she kept her other life a secret from her and from her mom. Although now that Gigi knew, she didn't want to keep any more secrets.

"Sis, I'll be ok I promise you that I'll be back. It will only be a couple of days and Pauly will be with me" Cher reassured her again "I'm telling you because if something were to happen, you have to be the one to tell mom about all this. Aside from that, you have to tell the boys so they can assume leadership of the clan"

"Cher"

"Everything will be ok, I promise" Cher said softly

Gigi looked at her with watering eyes "ok"

After a while Cher had to leave, she kissed her mom goodbye and gave Gigi a hug "be careful" she said in her ear

"I will" Cher replied

Cher had managed to arrange a stay in the most hidden hotels in Portofino. She had friends here but not a lot so they can discover her other kind of work. For these occasions, Cher mostly went out at night so she and Pauly could lurk in the shadows. It made her uneasy that she didn't know what Paulo wanted. He just told her to go and wait for his men to pick her up in the corner of the street she was staying.

Cher and Pauly both were both wearing black. Pauly was wearing a black pantsuit while Cher was wearing a black dress. The corner where were was far from the hotel. Not many people were around so they didn't attract people. They both had black sunglasses on even if it was dark so nobody, not even the enemy would recognize their real identities.

"What do you think Paulo would do this time to get us to meet him?" Pauly asked

"It could be anything and honestly that scares me" Cher said, she suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder that startled her

"Hey girls" the voice said "Cher what are you doing so fancy?"

They went cold from the shock "Meryl?? What the heck are you doing here at this hour?"

"I'm on vacation, just got here and I always like to take a night walk" she said

Pauly a few moments later spotted a black van coming towards them fast "Meryl you have to get out of here now!!" She exclaimed

Cher spotted the van and as Pauly was pulling on Meryl away she put on the full face mask. Unfortunately the van was too fast for them and the three ended up being grabbed. Meryl fainted from the panic, Pauly was worried and to say Cher was pissed was an understatement. They were tied up the whole ride, after a while they stopped at a house and put in a room together.

Pauly was beside Meryl on the bed, Cher kicked a wall. She couldn't even see her face, she put someone in danger. There had been times when she almost did but nothing like this. Cher knew they were cameras watching them but they didn't have sound on.

"Pauly this was not suppose to happen, Meryl shouldn't have been there" Cher said

"I know but things happen" Pauly said

"Not like this, not to me. I'm always careful, what the hell went wrong?" Cher asked herself

"Pauly? Cher?" Meryl said groggy as she woke up, Cher turned around, she was afraid of Meryl seeing her with the mask on.

"Meryl honey take it easy, you fainted in the commotion" Pauly said slowly

"Where are we?" She asked

"We could be anywhere, sadly we have been kidnapped by some people" Pauly told her

Meryls eyes widened "What?!!!" She exclaimed "Why? What do they want with us?" She said almost panicking again

"Relax sweetie they don't want anything out of you" Pauly calmly said "You were just in the wrong place, at the wrong time"

"I don't understand" Meryl said

"Cher and I are not gonna let anything happen to you, i promise. That's all you need to know" Pauly told her

"Cher?" Meryl said looking in her direction, she was still looking to the wall.

"Meryl I'm sorry you're in here, you were not suppose to be there. It's my fault you're in here with us, I promise we're gonna get out of here soon" she said without looking at her

"Why are you saying that? And why won't you look at me?" Meryl asked

"She's afraid" Pauly intervened "Cheralina even if you have the mask on, Meryl is still our friend. Things can be explained later but we will never put her in danger"

Cher turned around to face her best friends, Meryl was horrified when she saw her in the mask "Don't you see that she's already in danger because of me?"

Suddenly the door opened, Pauly quickly turned Meryl and herself around to cover their faces "Dark Lady, il capo è pronto a vederti"
