She was sitting on the edge of the bed thinking every possible way to stop her best friend from leaving. "Anjali please don't do this yaar. What will I do without you."
"Sanju..will you stop." Anjali was busy packing because she only had couple of hours before she leave Mumbai forever. "I am heading back home...not going to Mars or Moon. We live in an era where I am just a call away."
"But I don't want you to go.." Sanjana finally stood up from the bed and held Anjali's hand. "I want you here with me."
"Maa needs me Sanju. Pappa is unwell..I need to go..because Maa is all alone there." Anjali caressed her hair. "And don't worry...I will come back whenever you will truly need me...okay."
"Why do I feel this might be the last time that I will see you." Sanjana was scared, worried and sad at the same time. "I am sorry for everything Anjali."
"Sorry for what.." Anjali smiled as she hugged Sanjana wholeheartedly "..for falling in love?"
"For stealing your man." Sanjana hugged her back.
Anjali patted her back to calm her down "He was never mine to begin with Sanju." He has always loved you and you love him. There is no place for me between you two ever."
"That's why you are leaving.." Sanjana look back at her "Though you love me enough not to hate me for stealing your man away but you don't have enough strength to see him with me as well. Don't you."
This time Anjali nodded "..God I forgot...how badly you know me. Sorry for being so selfish Sanju." Anjali looked down.
"Don't ever be sorry for loving him. He is a fool not to realize what he has lost." That was all Sanjana could say.
"...he got you. He has nothing to worry." Tears were streaming down from both their eyes.
"I wish we two wouldn't have got into this situation. " Sanjana hugged her back. "I love you so much Anjali. And I am so sorry for hurting you like this."
"Being in love and getting your love are two blessings of God that not everyone can cherish. Since you both have been blessed by God don't forget to cherish it. I love you Sanju and that's why I am walking away because love will make me miserable and I don't want to end up ruining everything which I know will happen if I stayed back because nothing is more dangerous than undergoing the feeling of being rejected in one side love. Though he doesn't know about my feelings to begin with but still love can make people strange things."
Anjali confessed. "I know this feeling will eventually pass but till then I want a clean break."
"But what if you never came back.." Sanjana held on to her tightly "I don't want to let go off you."
"You have my words Sanju. The day you will truly need me to return will be the day I will return for real. Just for you."
"You promise." Sanjana was scared to let her go. But what she didn't know that so was Anjali.
"I promise"
