He was finally all alone. Though Sanjana was sleeping peacefully in his bed he however couldn't stop his heart's bleeding anymore. He got down from the bed and pulled the entire quilt on Sanjana. He didn't wanted to disturb her peaceful sleep because if she got up now all his efforts and pretence would be washed out in a moment.
He simply slid the glass door and stepped into the balcony. Sliding it back he walked several steps only to stop in front of the railing from where he could see entire Mumbai shining in bright lights in front of him.
"Anjali" was all he could say.
He lied to Sanjana when she asked him what Anjali said to him while she was leaving.
Because the fact was that she simply didn't say anything to him.
Nothing. At. All.
Not even a word.
However, technically speaking he didn't lie.
The words that he said to Sanjana about Anjali was actually Anjali's last words to him...however it wasn't today.
It was on the day when Anjali realized that he had chosen Sanjana over her.
But he wasn't at all offended by her words because he was expecting so much worse. That's why her words shocked him beyond measure because Anjali's words were like her blessing on his and Sanjana's relationship.
It was then when he realised that how much she loved and adored Sanjana.
Sanjana wasn't a fool. She could see how much it hurt Anjali but Anjali being Anjali never let Sanjana feel the guilt. She was always there for Sanjana whenever she needed Anjali's support.
He too did his best to not hurt Anjali anymore. But if he was being honest he began to admire and miss Anjali a little bit more with each passing day.
However he was a coward who simply couldn't face her anymore.
Of course he had never wronged her and neither did Anjali blamed him for falling in love with Sanjana.
She simply chose to stay away because she didn't wanted to hurt either him or Sanjana even unintentionally.
She began to fight her own battles and soon she head to a direction that required her to break all the chain of her past so that she could move on with her life and find her life's happiness.
A future that didn't had anyplace for him or Sanjana in her life anymore.
And finally today breaking all the chains, strings, chords etc she finally flew away.
He wanted to apologize to her because though it was purely unintentional he did became the reason of her sadness.
However he just couldn't gather the courage to do so.
Anjali was his best friend from Day 1. She came to his life way before Sanjana did. And then she grew closer to Sanjana to such extent that today he was like a third party between them.
If they grew apart it was totally his fault and he knew this very well. Though she too didn't do anything to interfere in his life she always supported, respected and defended him unconditionally.
But the way she left them today it really was eating him from within.
Since it was too late to regret now all he could do was to wish her all the luck and happiness in the world...
..and hope that hopefully one day they would meet again.
