*This Imagine is NOT what you think it is!*
“Niall, hurry! We’re going to be late!” You shouted from the door. You zipped Lizzie’s coat up to her chin, and pulled her hat over her head.
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” He said, running down the stairs. You smiled as he ran up to you, and you shoved his hat on his head.
“Okay, now let’s go,” You grabbed both of their hands and led them out to the car. Niall settled Lizzie in her car seat, while you found your way to the passenger’s side. You quickly ran through everything in your head. You and Niall were on your way to a conference with Lizzie’s teacher. The teacher had called you guys a few days ago, saying she wanted to meet with you.
“Okay, we’re good,” Niall sighed, buckling his seatbelt. You guys drove all the way over to her school, with Lizzie fidgeting nervously in her seat.
“Don’t worry, honey. I’m sure Ms. Charter just wants to discuss how amazingly smart you are,” You winked, trying to calm Lizzie’s nerves.
You guys entered the school hand-in-hand. Lizzie showed you the way to the office, pointing out the artwork that hung on the walls on the way.
“Hey, uh, we’re here to see Ms. Charter,” Niall said, picking up Lizzie above his shoulders.
“Sure, she’ll be here in a minute,” The lady at the desk smiled.
You guys waited until Ms. Charter showed up, then she took you back to her classroom. There was a table at the front, and you all sort of found a spot at that table. Ms. Charter sat directly in front of you and Niall, while Lizzie sat in a desk off to the side.
“So, you must be Mrs. and Mr. Horan?” She extended a hand, which you shook. “I’m Ms. Charter.”
“You can call me (Y/N), and this is Niall,” You said.
Ms. Charter nodded before continuing. “Well, here’s the thing. Lizzie is an amazing student. I mean, she’s very bright. I have no doubts that she won’t be very successful. There’s just one thing. She tends to day dream a bit. And, I often catch her with food in class. You do know that food is not allowed in class, right? Only at lunch.”
You looked over at Niall, who was smirking. He was always behind the food problem. “Maybe she’s just hungry,” Niall said.
“But, sir, that’s why we have a special time just for lunch. Students tend to get hungry,” Ms. Charter said rather smartly. “Food is not allowed in any classroom. Unless told otherwise.”
“I don’t see a problem in having a little snack. This is a public school! Why can’t she just eat something? It’s really not THAT distracting, is it?” Niall said, inching closer to the end of his chair.
“The problem is that it’s not allowed, Mr. Horan. She can wait until lunch time to eat, just like everybody else,” Ms. Charter glanced over at Lizzie, who was avoiding eye contact from anyone.
“Would it help if we got a doctor’s excuse, Ms. Charter?” You interrupted.
“So are you saying she has a medical disorder, which she has to eat all the time?” Ms. Charter.
“She may,” You said, smiling at Niall. “Would you like us to get a doctor’s excuse, Ms. Charter?” You repeated your question.
Ms. Charter sighed, obviously frustrated. “Fine. If you really think it’s necessary. I don’t understand why she can’t just wait until lunch time, though.”
You nodded, “Then we’ll have a doctor’s excuse for her by Monday.”
“Anyway, about the daydreaming thing. Is something going on at home that may cause her to lose focus sometimes?” Ms. Charter took her glasses off, setting them on the table in front of her and taking another peek at Lizzie.
“Nothing that I can think of. She’s always been very curious, though. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about,” You replied.
The teacher took another deep breath before gathering her stuff. “Well then we’re done here. Nice to meet you,” She said, totally not meaning a word. She hurried out the door, leaving you and Niall laughing like crazy.
“Alright, c’mon,” Niall took your hand, picked up Lizzie and guided you guys down the hallway and outside. Well, that was interesting.
