By the time Maggie was well enough to get out of bed, it was Halloween. She hadn't really had a chance to talk to Steve yet. She was stuck in bed, he had missions, so they kept missing each other. Tony decided to throw a costume party for Halloween, and Maggie spent a while picking the perfect outfit. She even researched how to do her hair. She did one more look see in the mirror before heading downstairs to the party.

Bucky turned the corner to see Maggie standing outside the party. She turned to look and him and smile and it was like he had been taken back; she looked just like Peggy, even down to the red lipstick. He knew she meant well but he knew right away this was a bad idea. It also meant Steve still hadn't talked to her. He approached her before she opened the door to the party, "doll. You can't wear that."

Maggie looked down at her outfit and looked back up at him. She researched what a woman in the 40's in the military would have worn. She even did her hair the right way. "What's wrong with it? I thought Steve would like it."

She looked behind Bucky to see Steve coming down the hall behind him. She saw him stop when he saw her. Then she saw his face change to anger as he approached them. He grabbed her arm, "what are you doing? Why are you dressed like her?"

Maggie winced, "you're hurting my arm Steve. What's the matter? Her who?"

"Steve, let her go." Bucky grabbed his friend, "she doesn't know what you're talking about because you never told her. She thought you'd appreciate her dressing as someone from your time." He looked at Maggie who just looked confused and hurt and back at his friend, "someone from our time."

Steve let go of her arm, tears starting to form in his eyes as a few of the other Avengers started to form around the interaction. He stormed into the party as Maggie turned to Bucky, "what the hell is going on?"

Bucky put his hands at his hips, his head down as he shook his head, "you look like a girl from our time. Someone Steve was in love with." He looked up at her, motioning to her outfit, "especially dressed like that."

She looked around at the faces, "so I look like his dead ex girlfriend? And no one has told me?" She stormed off to her room before anyone could say anything. She had already changed clothes, pulling her hair out of her face. She wore jeans, boots and a t-shirt. She looked up to see Bucky standing in the doorway.

"He should have told you. I'm sorry doll."

She didn't look at him as she continued to put things in her backpack, "it doesn't matter. I can't do this anymore. I'm leaving." She grabbed her leather jacket and tried to leave the room but he wouldn't move from the door. "Either come with me or get out of my way Buck." She watched him hesitate, actually considering it, "I'll be in the garage. I'm leaving in ten minutes, with or without you."

Bucky watched her walk away from him before going to his own room. He changed quickly, leaving a note for Steve. He grabbed his own leather jacket and his backpack and found Maggie standing next to Steve's Harley, "really? This is what you want to take?"

Maggie smirked at him, "absolutely. And I'm driving. Hop on Sergeant Barnes."

Bucky laughed, climbing onto the bike behind her, resting his hands on her waist.

The music for the party was turned down as Friday made an announcement over the system: 'Mr. Stark, I thought you would like to know that Sergeant Barnes and Ms. Ellis just left the compound on Captain Rogers' motorcycle.'

Everyone looked at Steve. Natasha pushed past him, "this is all your fault" as she left the party. Steve followed her to Maggie's room to find most her personal things gone. She had books scattered across the room, and her phone laid upon her desk. Natasha tossed a book at him. He opened it to find the pages inside cut to hide stuff in, he looked at Natasha for an explanation. "She keeps petty cash and small weapons inside old books to hide them. It's all gone."

He left her room for Bucky's. His room was still neat, only thing missing was his backpack. He found a note and his phone on his desk. He opened the note:

Steve
She was going either way. At least if I go with her I can try and keep her safe. I'll check in when I can. Find a way to fix this.
- B

Steve groaned, throwing the letter on Bucky's desk. He found Natasha in the hallway, "do you know where she went? Doesn't her family live nearby?"

Natasha sighed and crossed her arms, "her mom does. Yes. But I can't take you there. She left. That means she doesn't want to see you."

"Please Natasha. I need to talk to her." He hung his head down, not being able to face the anger in his friend's face.

Natasha pushed Steve against the wall, "you need to talk to her? You have had plenty of time to talk to her. She's been here almost a year!"

"I know! Okay! I fucked it up. I'm sorry Nat! Please," his voice became softer, "can you help me? Please."

"Fine. I'll take you. But she's smart. Even if she does go there, she won't go there right away."
