Turned away

"Get out of my face"

"You're a disgrace"

"Your dreams are too big"

"You'll not be selected even if the system was rigged"

"Oh Hi. Nice poetry. Come again, Never!"

"You write as well? Your cap's got another feather"

"Too bad it gives no one pleasure"

"Your writing is too emo"

"Trust us honey, we know"

"Ooh. Depression, sadness, disappointment. Bla bla bla. Next"

"I told you to send back that good for nothing poetess, didn't u get my text?"

I went to him

I went to her

And yet this stamp of rejection didn't seem to blur.

I asked everyone

It didn't work

It's like everything they saw, was murk

But I didn't give up

I kept trying

Months of crying, letters of denying, aimless flying, it felt like dying.

Tiresome journey

Every road I traversed turned out to be a dead-end

"Your work's useless", everyone reckoned

Endless periods of gloom

Hopelessness, melancholy, misery

Slowly my dreams were becoming dusty old pages of history

But then I met her

She said my writing helped her cope

Cope with what? I don't know

But she motivated me and gave me hope

She said, "Dream on for dream is what you can do

When nothing goes your way, even little belief can take you through!

It may seem like an impasse,

But darling this is also a mountain you can pass.

No mountain's high, no ocean's deep, no valley's low

But the sky is limitless, so go on,

Grow and glow."

Now I see her everyday

You want to meet her too?

Oh turn around, look in the mirror, she's that way.
