"I don't think she's here, Sunny. Let's go."

Were the last words Aubrey had heard from Kel as the pair walked off, discouraged. Through the window, the delinquent scowled and gritted their teeth, seemingly furious at how they would give up on something so important.

How they would give up on Mari.

Scoffing, she streaked her fingers hard on the window's glass, creating an ear-screeching noise no one heard.

'How could they.' She thought, realising that the tips of her scuffed fingers turning a concerning shade of white and shook her hand. Staring down at the precious photo album that was tucked in between her arm and body securely, Aubrey's previously frustrated expression subsided into a remorseful one. After all, she had to bully Basil relentlessly after finding out which was never meant to happen. And now, she had just escaped out of her safe-space where she had presumably gotten shunned out of.

It was too much for the teenager to bear, too much for anyone to bear. Why? Why was it so hard for things to go her way at least once. Sure, she had found some friends that would be by her side but they were nothing like the friends she had before. In her previous friend group, Aubrey didn't have to worry about a thing. After all, she was just a kid. She looked up to Mari and Hero, was forever grateful to Basil, bonded with Y/N, quarrelled with Kel and held a small crush on Sunny. It was perfect.

Life was perfect.

Wiping her newly fallen light tears, she unlocked the slightly gashed door and left her house where she was greeted by a gentle breeze which brushed her hair and tickled her skin. As if it was to say,

'It's going to be okay.'

Just like Mari would've.

Holding the album even closer to her, Aubrey set her course to somewhere where she'd often go to also find some sort of peace and lift a little but of burden, little by little. With the crunching of dead leaves which followed every footstep she took, the pink haired girl took in the breathless scene around her. It may have seemed like nothing special to other people but that's what made it special to her. It still looked the same as what she remembered to be like back then.
