A young polish student;
No one knew her name,
They only knew what she did,
As did I..
Then she vanished into the fog and the night…
She saved a little boy,
With no thought or concern for herself,
As bomb after bomb tumbled towards soil and buildings of man…
Flint, plaster and brick diverted their ballet around her,
Whilst she flew, weaving, towards his slumped torso…
She then lifted him up to her chest,
Cradling him in her arms, as he cried for his mother,
Who was disfigured and open-wounded
As she lay dying beside him…
I will never forget that moment;
It stays with me always…
