The memories she made in this house took over her mind for a few moments. But eventually she shook her head in a way to bring herself back to reality. Her husband was in prison, they're not the happy newlywedded couple anymore and she had work to do.
The black gate wasn't just for show. Only those who were welcome on the property could get past it. Though of course that wasn't the only ward surrounding the house. The manor belonged to the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black, and the Black family cared much about their safety.
"Daisy!" she called.
The house elf immediately popped up before her. She wasn't alone though, eight other house elves stood behind Daisy. She knew Daisy would alarm the other two house elves, but she never expected six new elves.
Evelyn gave out a little squeak of surprised, but quickly put on a smile. "Daisy, it's good to see you again. My apologies for my absence, I realise it's not the best thing for you all to have to live here without Sirius or me. I hope it makes you feel better when I say I will be living here again. I cannot express how much I missed this place."
"Oh, how wonderful that you're here again, Mistress. It's an honour that you'll be staying here again." Daisy said, clasping her hands together while slightly bouncing on her feet. "I told you she's nice." she said to the other house elves.
"Ah, yes. Daisy, could you please explain to me why your friends are here?" Evelyn asked, walking towards the front door.
"Oh, uh, Mistress, my apologies. I know it's inappropriate, but you always expressed to Master Black that you want us, house elves, to be treated fairly. So, well, I thought I would give them a better home. Oh, I'm sorry Mistress, I went too far."
"Oh, shush now. It's no big deal. I have been gone for 10 years. It's understandable that you three got lonely after a while. I just hope that they are not part of any other household?"
"Oh, no, Mistress. You shall not need to worry, they didn't have anyone to work for, so I thought Mistress would need more help if Mistress and Master Black came back."
"Yes. Well, if it's not too much of a trouble, they can stay. Please inform them about the rules in this household and give them the Black family unforms. Oh, and could you please get my old room ready, I'm rather tired."
"Yes, yes, of course, Mistress." Daisy squeaked, apparating away.
"Can Anise do anything else for Mistress?" A young house elf asked.
"Could you lit a fire, please? It's rather chill in here." Evelyn said, letting herself fall on the couch in the living room.
Evelyn's mind was focusing on a way to find Remus. She knew that it was a full moon today, and she wanted to find him as soon as possible. Places he could possibly be staying at, still going through her head when she felt herself fall asleep.

"Mistress? Mistress?"
Evelyn opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the dark blue ceiling with hand painted silver stars. Turning her head, she saw the house elf standing on the side of her bed.
"Good morning, Calla. Thank you for waking me up, I've got lots of things to do today. Let me just get ready. I suppose Daisy and Anise are making breakfast. That's why you woke me up, isn't it?"
The house elf nodded rapidly. "Calla remembers Mistress likes to be awake early."
Evelyn smiled, she was going to make today count.
