"Paige, we gotta go!" I called up the stairs to my sister.

"Jess, give me like a fucking minute! I can't find any of my shit in these boxes!" She yelled back, clearly annoyed with my several warnings.

"Then take one of my sweatshirts, we can't be late on the first day!"

"Ugh!" She exasperated dramatically before I heard her feet stomping toward my bedroom.

After a few minutes and several slamming sounds I could finally see my sisters angry face coming down the stairs.

"You're a pain in my ass." She said.

"And you're slow." I said opening the front door. "Bye Dad!"

"Bye kids, love you." My dad called from the kitchen.

"Bye daddy." Paige said as we left.

We jumped in my truck before heading toward our new high school.

"Why am I nervous? I already have friends." Paige said.

"Cause you're an idiot." I said and she punched me. "And because all of your friends are older than you."

"Oh thanks, that helped." She shifted in her seat.

"Where are we supposed to meet them?" I asked as I pulled into the parking lot.

"The quad of the B building? Jesus christ this place is huge." Paige said looking around.

"Okay, what building is this?" I asked, looking out the window.

"Uh, D. We're in the wrong parking lot." Paige said. "And I'm the idiot."

"You wanna walk?" I asked.

"Ha ha." Paige stuck her tongue out at me.

Once I found the right parking lot and an empty space, Paige and I gathered our things and stepped out of my truck.

"You need a shorter truck." She said.

"I'm 6'5"." I laughed.

"And I am not."

"Clearly." I said, ruffling her hair.

"Get off me." She shoved me. "Where the hell is the quad?"

"Uh-oh! I smell maple syrup, Caufield's must be close." The voice of Clayton called our attention to two picnic tables where everyone was sitting.

"I guess it's there." I said as we sauntered over.

"Maple syrup?" Drew asked his brother.

"Cause they're Canadian."

"Okay, except they're not." Melanie laughed.

"Let me have this, Melanie!" Clayton yelled.

"Sup boys." I greeted everyone.
