I sighed as I finally put down my last box on the side of my room
I was getting ready for school opening and decided to leave early so that I can get all my stuff in place and get to know a few places around the school and the surrounding areas
Being in college meant freedom and I was going to live to the fullest, also being miles away from my homeland
I chose to study in the US cause I loved it a lot when my parents took me and my grandparents for the holidays
Also I wanted to be independent and being an only child, that wish was granted
I saw a few boxes on the other end of the room and I guessed my roommate will be here any time or day
" I hope I'll be great friends with whoever I'm paired up with "
I placed my stuff in the space provided and took my towel to take a shower
I got dressed and grabbed my phone
11:45am
" I should get some lunch and walk around"
I put on my shoes and I heard the door opening
" Uh .....hie
I'm guessing you're my roommate "
" Yes I am
Nice to meet you "
" Likewise "
He has a gentle smile and I returned it
" You don't seem like you're from around here are you ?"
I helped him put down his box and he put down his bag
" No I'm from Thailand "
" Wow so far away
Well if you need anything I'll be sure to show you around
I might look cheery but believe me when I say I'm very awkward "
We both laughed
" I think your just sweet "
" Thank you "
