👍👏👊Thanks for reading on my story!🙏🙌❤️

I want to share a little bit about why I decided to write this story.

This story was an experiment for me in two ways.

First, I wrote this story for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). That was a 👻scary 👻 thing for me, because I usually outline and do several drafts before serializing on Wattpad. As a result, my stories are always very polished. This time around, I had a loose outline, and I wrote live to the internet. As a writer, that made me feel naked and vulnerable. Not only were there a lot of typos 😲, but I had no idea if this thing was even going to work.

Seriously, I could've fallen flat on my face. The ending might not have made any sense. We could've gone off on a weird tangent that involved vampires who crave junk food, or the possibility that this story really takes place inside of a video game about Vikings fighting aliens, and our hero's quest to deliver pizzas 🍕in 30 minutes or less through the hell-scape of an alien-Viking conflict. Seriously, anything could've happened.

The second way in which this story was an experiment is that I've never written a YA / teen story before. Equally daunting, as a 40-something dude, I'm pretty far removed from my high school years. But something magical happened at WattCon 2018. I attended a panel on YA fiction, and as I sat there listening, I began to think about my awkward and uncertain teenage years, and how sharing those feelings might be a good source of entertainment and also a beacon for a younger readers facing the daily dread of being a teenager. To those readers, I can assure you, it gets better. A lot better! And to the women of the YA panel, thank you for inspiring me, @samantha @WaltTwitman @leigh_ @Fallzswimmer @nonfictionalex!

OK, one last point about this story. This is a story about male insecurity. That topic might surprise some non-male readers, because in a patriarchy, one might wonder what men have to be insecure about? Well, the truth is that the patriarchy sucks for men too, albeit in different ways that a lot of men don't even notice. Put simply, patriarchy only allows for a very narrow definition of what it means to be a man. Being an alpha male is everything. Sexual conquests are the only benchmark that matters. And your manhood is quite literally measured by the size of your dick.

The reason I chose to tell a story about penis size is because it's such a profound, and terribly misunderstood, source of insecurity for nearly all men, regardless of their size. I'm thrilled that this story has resonated with hundreds of thousands of readers on Wattpad, which continues to be a beacon of safety, inclusion, and experimentation, on an otherwise bleak internet.

Thank you for reading
