The constant yapping of the dog had been impossible to ignore, and the lady always seemed so doting, talking to it like it was her child. It was clear she adored the dog—and with all that wealth, you could almost taste the money. What other choice did you really have?
You both waited for the perfect moment, hanging around her house for her to leave. The lady always trusted her dog outside while she ran errands, confident it wouldn't run off.
Finally, the moment came. With the dog out in the yard, you coaxed it over with a treat. Jiyeong grabbed the little creature, and the two of you bolted.
Now, the waiting game began: you'd sit tight until the missing dog posters started popping up. It didn’t take long before the reward went up, and you had to dirty the dog to make it look like it had run away. But as time passed, you started to grow attached. The dog was small, cute, and having it around made you long for one of your own.
But in the end, you and Jiyeong returned the dog to its owner. The lady sobbed as she saw her beloved pet, and a pang of guilt shot through you. Still, money was money.
She handed over more than the reward offered on the posters, and you didn’t complain.
