The air was thick with tension in the dimly lit room, players milling around nervously, waiting for the signal to start. Among them was Kang Mina, the young woman with an effortless confidence that seemed to put everyone at ease — except, perhaps, for the nerves bubbling in your stomach.
You tried to calm your breathing, glancing around at the others who were equally fidgeting. But then your gaze fell on her: Mina. She stood near the corner, her arms casually crossed over her chest, eyes scanning the room with a playful glint. She caught you staring and raised an eyebrow, a small smirk tugging at her lips.
"Staring isn't very polite, you know," she said with a teasing tone, taking a step toward you.
You flushed, not used to being caught in the act. "I-I wasn't staring," you stammered, looking anywhere but at her.
Mina chuckled softly, her steps deliberate as she moved closer. "Sure, you weren't." She leaned in just enough that you could feel her breath against your ear. "But I don’t mind. I’m used to being admired."
Your heart skipped a beat, unsure of whether she was serious or just messing with you. You could hear the faintest edge in her voice, the playfulness mixed with something more captivating.
"I wasn’t admiring," you managed to say, your voice sounding weaker than you'd intended. "Just… curious."
Mina pulled back slightly to look at you, her eyes now twinkling with amusement. "Curious, huh? About what?" She was clearly enjoying the banter, the way your words faltered beneath her gaze.
You shifted on your feet, trying to hide your growing unease — or maybe it was excitement? — at the way Mina was suddenly so close. "I don't know," you shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Just wondering why you're so… confident. the other people here are a little more, well, tense."
She tilted her head, studying you. "Confidence comes naturally to some," Mina said, her tone smooth and a bit coy. "But you? You're cute when you're nervous. I like that."
Your heart pounded in your chest, and you opened your mouth to say something — anything — but the words got stuck. Mina was entirely too close now, her presence overwhelming yet strangely comforting.
"Don't worry," Mina whispered, her hand brushing lightly against yours, sending a jolt through your body. "I don't bite... unless you want me to."
You swallowed hard, trying to keep your composure. "I don't know if you're my type," you said with a awkwardly playful grin, hoping to deflect the moment before it got any more intense, your heart was beating ao intensely you couldn't tell if it was because of her or the anxiety anymore.
Mina smirked again, her lips curling in that teasing, confident way. "We'll see about that," she murmured, taking a step back as the room's atmosphere shifted, signaling that whatever was going to happen next, it was about to begin.
And as much as you wanted to resist, you couldn't help but wonder if Mina was right. Maybe, just maybe, you were a little curious about her after all.
