Thirteen/Mind Flayer

                 CHAPTER THIRTEEN
                                  WILL

We all stood around my boyfriend Will as he drew the Mind Flayer on some paper. I leaned on the table to get a better look at the drawing having him speak.

"This is him. All of him. But, that day on the field, a part of him attached itself to me." He said moving himself from the picture having me see a spider looking creature before he slid his hand across it smudging the picture

"My mom got it out of me...and El and Tessa closed the gate." Will said flipping the paper "But the part that was still in me, what if it's still in our world?" He asked having me look away with realization before turning back to him watching him stamp his hand on the paper seeing the black coloring "In Hawkins."

"I don't understand. The Demodogs died when El and Tes closed the gate. If the brain dies, the body dies." Max said defeated

"We can't take any chances. We need to assume the worst. The Mind Flayers back." Mike said as I looked at my sister having her look at me probably thinking what I was thinking billy

"Yeah. And if he is, he'd want to attach himself to someone again. A new me." Will said

"A new host." Lucas said as I felt Els eyes burn through me

"How can you tell if someone is a host?" El asked scrunching her face as I looked at her

We were at the Hawkins pool watching Billy. I was standing next to my boyfriend who I ignored entirely although I was concerned about him.

"I don't know. He looks pretty normal to me." Max said starring at her brother through binoculars having me scoff

"Normal? How many times have you seen him with a shirt on?" Lucas asked his girlfriend rolling his eyes

"I mean, it's a little weird." She said turning her head to the side

"More than a little. He was in a tub with ice. The Mind Flayer likes it cold." Mike said looking to his now ex girlfriend before looking back to Max "—Plus everything else—-"

"— But he's lounging at the pool, which is, like, the least Mind Flayer thing ever." Max said rolling her eyes at Mike

"Not necessary." Will said having all of us look to him "The Mind Flayer likes to hide. He only used me when he needed me. It's like... like you're dormant. And then, when he needs you, you're activated." He explained

"Okay, so we just... wait until he gets activated."Max said as Mike shook his head

"No. What if he hurts someone?" Mike asked

"Or kills someone." Will said

"We can't take that chance. We need to find out if he's the host." Mike said getting up from the car he was leaning on

"-Where are you going?" Max asked Mike

"-I have an idea. Boys only." Mike yelled to us having me roll my eyes

"-Seriously?" I asked annoyed

"-Just trust me on this one." Mike yelled having me sigh out as the boys followed him before I looked to El and Max

I went in the shed where I found Lucas and Will coming out. "I thought Mike said boys only-" Lucas started

"Ssh." I hushed "I wanna help." I said as he nodded

"Tes can we talk?" Will asked as I looked at him but nodded having Lucas look at Will before walking further away from us to give us space

"Look I'm sorry. I lied and it was wrong." He said "I just want us to be on good terms." Will ended

"But why did you lie?" I asked having him go silent making me sigh "Like you said I'm a different species so maybe I should be with my species." I ended before walking further from him

"Wait what?" he asked before gasping and following me "I definitely did not say you were a different species Mike and Lucas did." Will said making me stop and turn "L- Listen I'm sorry I don't know why I lied okay. I just want you to know that I'm so-" he said cutting himself off from me hugging him

"I forgive you." I whispered before pulling myself from the hug and slightly smiling at him

"Thank you" he smiled before we started walking again but with less tension in the air "So to be clear you're still my girlfriend?" Will asked making me smile

"Yeah." I answered having me give me a nod with a smile
