Akaashi...?!

I texted AKAASHI?!?!?!

Shit.

The sun was slowly rising outside of Bokuto's window when he had grabbed his phone to see the damage that he'd done.

Please say I just texted Kuroo or something...

But of course, he hadn't.

Ok, Kou... It's not that bad. If he doesn't want to talk to you he's just not going to answer. Don't panic.

But of course, he couldn't shake the anxiety from his head as he prepared to face the day.

Bokuto had lasted the majority of the day without constantly checking his phone. The fact that he had put it on silent probably helped, but he couldn't stand it anymore. When he got back to his room and plopped down onto bed he cautiously checked his phone, as if something would jump out and scare him.

Nothing.

Sighing with dismay, he turned to put his phone on his bedside table, when as if on cue he heard a buzz.

From: Akaashi (Sent at 4:43pm)

[Hello.]

Is this for real? So... maybe he does want to talk to me?

Bokuto:

[Hey hey heyyyyy!]

[I must have texted you while you were asleep!]

Only after sending the text did Bokuto realize how fast his response was, and how suspicious it must look.

Akaashi:

[Yeah, that must've been the case.]

[You say "Hey" a lot, Bokuto.]

Bokuto:

[I know! It's kind of my thing!]

Why? Is it a bad thing?

Bokuto:

[How are you today?]

Akaashi:

[I'm well, thank you... Just catching up on some volleyball things...]

WAIT! Volleyball?! Is he serious???

Bokuto:

[VOLLEYBALL?! You like volleyball too?! WE HAVE TO PLAY TOGETHER.]

Bokuto knew he was being a bit forward and overwhelming but he just couldn't contain his excitement. The last time he had played volleyball was back when he was sixteen... before he had come out. And before he had left.

Akaashi:

[Uh, sure. I mean, will they let you out of the hospital?]

Bokuto:

[I guess. I can still walk around and get to where I have to go! Pretty much the only thing wrong with me is that I can't sleep!]

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Akaashi:

[Then I guess I'll see you at the hospital around a week or two from now. I know a gymnasium we can go to...]

Bokuto:

[A WEEK OR TWO?!]

Akaashi:

[Is that too long a wait? I can probably reschedule...]

Bokuto:

[Nah, it's alright! I guess I can wait that long. I've got time.]

He wanted to believe it.

Akaashi:

[Great. I'll see you then.]

"I can't wait!" he started to text out of excitement, before realizing that Akaashi was already offline and that maybe he really couldn't wait.
