"So...what do you think?" Mom came to your side, wrapping a hand around your shoulder, and gave you an encouraging smile and motion at the apartment building. Gazing at the building once again you shrug "It's not so bad I guess..."

You weren't lying, the apartment building doesn't look so bad. Helping your mom carry your luggage, the two of you were to first to go inside waving at Dre and aunt Sherry.

"Room 312...Room 312..." Following your mom from behind as she tries to find the unit of your home, you secretly glance at the neighbors that were nearby, there was an old lady watering a plant as she gave you a smile nodding her head as a greeting. Awkwardly giving a nod back, you gaze back to your mom only to bump into her as she came to a halt.

"Here we are!" You couldn't help but smile to see how excited she was, pulling out the keys from her pocket and opening the door.

 "Smells like home sweet new home" Your mom took a deep breath and lets it out with a smile, setting the bags down as she puts her hand on her hips.

Imitating on what she needed, you couldn't help but let out a sneeze from the small dust gathering around the air "More like dusty home" Your mom wave you off still smiling as she took the bags in your hands to set them down with the rest while you made your way towards the couch and collapse the jet lag finally hit you.

"Oh, hush we just need to clean the place and it'll home sweet home before you know it"
Before you know it huh? Staring up at the ceiling in a daze you try to imagine how your life was going to be now that both of you had moved here to China. 

Your mom notices the lack of reply and looks you over her shoulder, seeing your dejected mood a slight frown tug on the corner of her lips. Leaning by the island counter of the kitchen she lets out a sigh a sad smile on her face.

"I'm sorry [Y/n]"

Hearing your mom apologize, you abruptly sit up from your seat looking in her direction in surprise. Your mom lifts her head up to meet your gaze and you worriedly made your way towards her.

"I know moving isn't that easy sweetheart...I'm sorry we had to move away from Detroit knowing how much you love it back there"

You were quick to give her an embrace, yes you didn't like moving away from the place you grew up but what you didn't like the most was seeing your mom being upset "Mom it's alright! I'm a bit home-sick right now but I'm happy that you finally got the promotion that you've always wanted! Besides were in China, there's so much to see in a new place"

Feeling her arms wrap around you, you felt your mom playfully give you a tight squeeze as she places a kiss on top of your head giggling "Oh you're going to cause trouble here now huh?"

"Maybe..." You trail off with a cheeky grin coming up to your face as your mom playfully glares down at you but in the end, both of couldn't help but burst out laughing.
