Dream Killer

There is a monster inside of my head
And it kills my dreams.
There is a monster hanging over my bed
And it always screams.

There is a monster who asks me things
Like "Why do you live?"
"Why do you think?"
"Why don't you just freaking drown yourself
In the kitchen sink?"

It tells me I can't do it.
It tells me not to have dreams.
But me, I know better than it,
The monster is not what it seems.

The monster is me.
It's me, and that means
I can shut it up.
And I can stop it in its tracks
Like a bee being caught in a cup.

I'm more powerful than my monster
I get better every day
Even in my darkest hours
Even when it comes out to play

There is a monster inside of my head
And it tries to kill my dreams
But each day I get up out of my bed
And I tear it apart at the seams.
